Even after the initial and only write to high or on or 1 here, I make the source again w/ everything pointing to the $PATH in question. Notta. It never turns off!
<set_>
Ha.
<set_>
I need to research this more.
<set_>
When the board shutsdown by command, the relay turns off.
<set_>
Nice.

Now, I need to know the size, offset, and whatever else I can configure!

@zmatt: I know it is getting late here. Are you sort of using this method on pursuing this source?
<set_>
It seems that pread, which is obviously not used in your source (I cannot find it), turned into pread64 back in kernel 2.x.x.
<set_>
Same w/ pwrite.
<set_>
I use the OpenSource 500 || blah blah blah to handle the source and everything breaks in the Makefile.
<set_>
So, I will try something else.
<set_>
@zmatt: Before I go for the night, since it is 10:00 over here, am I allowed to discuss this effort of mine from your lib. on the forums?

I just wrote my own Python3 script to handle the RelayCape w/ Pathlib!
<set_>
Thank you, thank you. Please, do not stand up.
<set_>
Nice!
<set_>
Okay, done for now.

<zmatt>
set_: pwrite giving illegal seek? wtf?
<zmatt>
seems to work fine for me
<zmatt>
hmm, I did find a mistake in my BBORG_RELAY-00A2 overlay... fixing that now
<zmatt>
or maybe I didn't, and I didn't check myself whether I had a sufficiently recent kernel installed, lol
<zmatt>
actually, both are true
<zmatt>
ah fuck, I get it now
<zmatt>
hum
<zmatt>
ugh this sucks
<zmatt>
I kinda hate the C preprocessor now
<zmatt>
what I really want is a way to declare constants for use in expressions in dts instead of just replacing every token like cpp does (including node names)
<zmatt>
set_: my suggestion for now is to just don't use the BBORG_RELAY-00A2 overlay at all (neither mine nor the bb.org one)
<zmatt>
disable it by removing it from /lib/firmware or use the appropriate disable_uboot_overlay_addr* variable in /boot/uEnv.txt to disable automatic loading of the overlay
<zmatt>
and just specify the appropriate pin instead, e.g. /dev/gpio/P9_41 for relay-jp1, P9_42 for jp2, P9_30 for jp3, P9_27 for jp4
<zmatt>
ohh, I think I just thought of a disgusting hack to fix this problem in overlay-utils
<zmatt>
YES
<zmatt>
set_: ok, I've just pushed a properly working BBORG_RELAY-00A2 overlay to overlay-utils
