<Tonymac32> Lol
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> It's your target not the build system. 👀😆😉
<DC-IRC>
<Tonymac32> Kidding kidding, I know nothing of this board
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> I made some progress today
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> Making my own desktop config
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> Still, tons of stuff to understand
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> Right now I can't avoid lightdm hardlink , cant replace it with gdm3
<archetech>
I run gdm no prob
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> But already got all the amazingfate stuff for rk linux there by default, alongside other tweaks
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> I don't mean running gdm
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> But building with gdm
<archetech>
gdm is nt used to build anything
<archetech>
gnome disp mgr
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> I mean, building my gnome desktop with gdm, right from the builder
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> The armbian builder
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> Lightdm isnt installed, but there is a rule somewhere that prevents gdm3 being installed
Treibholz has quit [*.net *.split]
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> So I have to install it manually after first boot/config
<archetech>
my gnome is 45.rc1 all source built by hand
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> So, explain me where is the rule that dont allow me to set gdm3 on the builder please
<DC-IRC>
<microlinux> I mean, even of on packages.. it's not installed

<ilovedesigning> my laptop is overheating af

<ilovedesigning> i just tried to run zorinOS on the vm and the cpu is on 100%
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> good evening..
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> does anyone know where i can find documentation for "armbianmonitor" - it was suggested that i run it with the "-u" option... this gave me a firewall error.. (no, i dont just run things without checking then out first) - google searching for the app leads to a rabbit hole of rpi-monitor some AI company.... not much direct help, it did not seem to have a man page, etc....
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> since the board in question just seems to 'randomly' kernel panic, or just 'stops' - what is armbianmo itor pulling from the ashes? or does it need to be running in the background until the system crashes?
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> confusion abounds.... help?

<Werner> Armbianmonitor collects various debug person information and uploads them to our paste service. If the device does not have proper internet connection it is suggested to run -U (take note uppercase) instead to output to stdout so you can c&p by yourself to a service like paste.armbian.com
<DC-IRC>
<Werner> If you are interested in what the script does in the background simply open it with a editor of your choice. It is plain bash with a bit of decodable base64 I think. Use whereis or where command to locate it.

<rmleonard> One other off the wall question ---
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> In my "home lab" (<snerk>) --- I'd like to try to get every "machine/board" running the same (or close to same) OS ---
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> I have one old HP laptop - I'd like to get the generic x86 version of Armbian to run on it.
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> Are the images in the Downloads area - "Live CD" type images ? -- are they boot and go ? do they have an installer of note ?
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> Still confused --- but getting there...
<archetech>
this is arm not x86
<archetech>
just use plain ubu or deb

<gambl0r> There is an x86/x64 image of armbian, I haven't tried it so not sure you could use the `nand-sata-install` to copy if from the boot media to internal hdd

<rmleonard> I finally got it to boot in a VM - now looking to see if "armbian-install" does just that....
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> I was hoping for support - not crap - this is the "armbian" support area - and yes, I have Raspberry Pis, RockChip, Marvell Armada, and a few others that I haven't quite figured out (from old router boards) ---
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> I'm going to try to get all of them running the same toolset, why is that a lump in your craw? sheesh....
