<lanefu> They are disk images rather than ISO. Yes you could consider them live-like.. But you should be Able to write them gonna USB key and boot and try Armbian-install from there.
<DC-IRC>
<lanefu> Definitely not thoroughly tested.
<KREYREN>
The `Checking MD5 sum of installed packages` should be more verbose about what it's doing as the output is useless
* KREYREN
goes to check if he can fix it
<KREYREN>
jockson997, try removing the --silent from `chroot_sdcard debsums --silent` in lib/functions/rootfs/rootfs-create.sh:191(?) and re-run for better output
<KREYREN>
it outputs a lot of things though which is sub-optimal
<KREYREN>
actually try that with `debsums -s -l -c -x`
* KREYREN
is not sure that it works as he can't replicate the failure on his end and is just constructing that from the help page
<KREYREN>
expecting it to only show output for changed, missing and mismatched files this way
<KREYREN>
if it works then plz submit this to armbian:
<KREYREN>
# debsums outputs huge amount of data when called, these flags are used to manage that for better output:
<KREYREN>
## --silent: Silences the OK outputs
<KREYREN>
## --changed: Warn about changed files
<KREYREN>
## --list-missing: List missing files
<KREYREN>
## --report-missmatches: Report which file failed the check
<KREYREN>

<KREYREN>
--silent \
<KREYREN>
--changed \
<KREYREN>
--list-missing \

jackson997, seems like bug to me report it to armbian issue tracker
<KREYREN>
it shoudln't be touching these at all as those are release-specific files so there is probably a package from different release ported to your release without the maintainer verifying that it's working
<KREYREN>
jackson997, also let me know if you are going to submit that debsums contrib and if that improved the output bcs if needs be i can submit it instead

<0xdamian> I have a tiny 40mm Noctua Fan that I wanted to use on my 3d printer TLDR it's a bad idea to use a Noctua Fan. Now I want to use the 40mm Noctua Fan for my Rock 5B SBC and I have no idea if and how I can make a fan curve so for example it only spins when I watch movies like above 60c etc

<rmleonard> Good Morning!
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> I'm hoping to install Armbian on my amd e1-2100 HP laptop.... and since it has the most memory (12GB) I'll use it as the "leader of the pack" in my home lab/hackit area
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> I've gotten Armbian to boot a VM off of a "real" USB stick...
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> having trouble getting it to boot without the USB....
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> I have the VM (vmware workstation 17+ on my work laptop)
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> the laptop to get the brain lift is currently running debian bookworm
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> and yes --- I know -- some will say what's the point...
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> I'd like to get all of "my" stuff off of the work boxen and onto other machines...
<DC-IRC>
<rmleonard> 'just cause....

Hi, has anyone used mpv on orange pi 5 plus, at the moment when i run: mpv --hwdec=auto --vo=drm *.mp4 , i get - [vo/drm] Cannot retrieve DRM resources: Operation not supported
* jspiros
just received his shipment of 5x more orange pi zero 3
<jspiros>
chris_99: that error has to do with the display/GPU system, --vo=drm means it wants to directly display the video to the display, so just confirming, are you trying to play a video on a connected display?
<jspiros>
chris_99: if you're running a desktop environment --vo=drm isn't going to work as you might expect, as the desktop environment is the thing being drawn to the screen
junaid_ has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<jspiros>
the error you're encountering has little to do with armbian/the orange pi board, unless maybe the issue is that the GPU on that board isn't being handled by the DRM subsystem

<lomotil> Anyone running omv on armbian just wanted to see why you chose that route over running omv stand alone. I'm looking at a odroid hc-4 to replace my server while also adding nas capabilities
<DC-IRC>
<terrorpup> I am running OMV on a Libre Computer Renegade ( ROC-RK3288), I will Armbian because it works on there, and I wanted a portable NAS
<DC-IRC>
<terrorpup> I wanted some that would be stable and up-to-date, I am getting good speed, I only have 1x1TB 2.5" Drive in that nuc like case, but OMV is working great
<DC-IRC>
<lomotil> good point I didn't even check if omv even supports the hc-4
<DC-IRC>
<lomotil> welp seems like omv os doesnt

<lomotil> btw how does that even work? armbain on sd card? or does it install to the hdd? I'm still a novice.

<terrorpup> So, Armbian is on the SD Card, the HDD is storage. Once you get Armbian installed and up-to-date, then you can install OMV on top of Armbian.
<DC-IRC>
<terrorpup> This way, if I get a bad SD card, I only have to replace Armbian/OMV and my data is safe on the data drive

As soon as a I have a posix-shell, everything feels like a normal computer to me. I have /bin/sh (or even bash/zsh) running on my phone, my wristwatch, my wifi-accesspoints and vaccuum-cleaners. those are all computers and I have no idea, how they boot.
<DC-IRC>
<igorpec> yes. this is idea of Armbian in some way ... that hides out all the pain and magic and provides ... Debian
<DC-IRC>
<igorpec> all those devices boot different, they are different in its core ... its custom hardware
<DC-IRC>
<igorpec> but if we speak on Opi5+ class ... this is pretty general purpose
