Hi! For reasons I have to use the most recent 6.3 kernel on my armbian system. I'm currently following the build preparation guide to built my own, just wanted to confirm that this is the right approach

<Werner> Kernel version on host should not matter.

<Schrostfutz>
DC-IRC: So I should be able to simply follow the instructions on the SBC to generate the corresponding package, right?
<e3ef13f4ff44>
do anyone have it downloaded before it disappeared?
<Schrostfutz>
when trying to build an armbian edge image for my Rock PI 4b+ I get an error about the bsp installation failing: https://paste.next.armbian.com/xaponetota Is there anything I can do to debug it further?
<DC-IRC>
<IgorPec> e3ef13f4ff44 are you logged to forum? and why not?
<DC-IRC>
<IgorPec> you need to ask there, not here

<amazingfate> It seems to be network issue, try it another time.

<rpardini> You had some network problems there, `Could not resolve 'deb.debian.org'`

<Tenkawa> was that a question or statement?
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> btw your load avg looks way high
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> if the build isn't running what is it?
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> Are you adding/modifying anything in your build or is it completely stock?
<DC-IRC>
<Robin> I'm modifying it yes, to have some pre installed scripts, but it's nothing too fancy... I can't share it in public, but I can dm you the customize script if you're OK with that?
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> You can if you like however I would tell you to look for things that manipulate files (ie tar, cpio, gzip, etc)
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> those might be causing the failure
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> or dpkg builds etc
<DC-IRC>
<Robin> I just install some things
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> using dpkg by chance?
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> or apt

has anyone been able to mount a CIFS share in bookworm? i get the error in dmesg (cifs: disagrees about version of symbol module layout) which is the same error that ipv6 spams in dmesg
<javabean>
if modprobe is used, i get a (error: could not insert 'cifs': exec format error
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> javabean: did you compile a new kernel?
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> javabean: if you did and you are getting that error you didn't install the modules for the new kernel build
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> it still thinks its the modules for the old kernel version/build
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> they are mismatched
<javabean>
noi don't think so, pretty sure it is the "stock" kernel
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> also do not cross post on multiple channels please
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> something changed... that "is" a MODVERSIONS error
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> what did you change/update?
<javabean>
apt upgrade... pretty sure i used the 23.05.0 orangepi5 bookworm image to install
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> do you still have the url for the original image? I want to make sure our images didn't get a bad build

<Tenkawa> Bookworm imaged are CI images... those are untested and could be potentially broken daily
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> er images
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> only the Bullseye and Jammy images are tested
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> the Bookworm ones are autogenerated.. they may "not" function correctly for that board as you may have just found

this build is ready to "ship"... its only that cifs bit that is now blocking me from pushing my buildout to "production"

<Tenkawa> I would highly recommend against iyt
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> er it
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> that "version" is not going to be recreatable
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> Since it gets changed nightly it has not been integrated into a recreatable version yet
<DC-IRC>
<Tenkawa> So unless you want to take that responsibility upon yourself...

<OPguyOP> Hi, I have installed armbian on rk3318 chip. I try to run apt update but get error “connection timed out” to mirror which I can ping and resolve url
<DC-IRC>
<Werner> Try different mirror?
<DC-IRC>
<OPguyOP> Where I can get armbian mirrors or autotool to search one?
<DC-IRC>
<OPguyOP> Hmm, looks like I have some strange problem with internet/memory. I can ping anything I want, but cannot download something via wget or git. Looks like the same problem is with mirror because I tried to download .deb file that failed but when I tried to download it manually, kt downloaded first 20-30 kB and stops
<DC-IRC>
<OPguyOP> I have never had same problem on linux. Steange thing is, that armbian-config downloads and install everything it needs…
