cr1901 changed the topic of ##yamahasynths to: Channel dedicated to questions and discussion of Yamaha FM Synthesizer internals and corresponding REing. Discussion of synthesis methods similar to the Yamaha line of chips, Sound Blasters + clones, PCM chips like RF5C68, and CD theory of operation are also on-topic. is CM-32L LA synthesis, U-110 sampling, or GS?

KitsuWhooa: A CM-64 for 250€ ?
<ValleyBell>
That's actually not sooo bad.
<KitsuWhooa>
It's not :p
<ValleyBell>
I'm almost tempted to get it.
<KitsuWhooa>
the "weird" thing is that it says 2-4 days, not "in stock"
<ValleyBell>
weird indeed
<ValleyBell>
It also says "second hand" for the 32L, but not for others.
<KitsuWhooa>
they're not meant to be brand new for sure
<KitsuWhooa>
:p
<ValleyBell>
yeah
<KitsuWhooa>
but yeah, I don't think they ship to outside of the country
<KitsuWhooa>
If you _really_ wanted, I could buy it with cash on delivery to make sure they don't do anything funky, and then reship it to you once I get it
<KitsuWhooa>
but idk what the price of shipping it to you would be
<ValleyBell>
Greece is part of the Schengen Area, so ...
<ValleyBell>
probably not too bad.
<KitsuWhooa>
yeah, no customs or anything stupid like that
<ValleyBell>
I'll think about it for a few days.
<KitsuWhooa>
sure :p
<ValleyBell>
Thanks a lot for the hint :)
<KitsuWhooa>
np :p
<KitsuWhooa>
I was looking for a CM-32L just because I still have that CM-32P and I wanted to pair them for fun, but I'm not spending that much money "for fun" :p
<ValleyBell>
yeah, it's not worth the effort
<KitsuWhooa>
andlabs_: LA I'd assume
<ValleyBell>
The last few 32L's on ebay were sold for more than the last few CM-64s.
<ValleyBell>
stupid DOS gamers
<KitsuWhooa>
yeah, that's annoying :p
<tunixman>
those magnets on a stick have saved my ass on several occasions, both on electronics and on horns. something so simple is so useful...
<KitsuWhooa>
wut
<KitsuWhooa>
:p
<tunixman>
I think andlabs_ was talking about a screw bit which is just a magnet. when I was fixing horns a lot I'd need them all the time to pull the ferrous screws out from the brass risers.
<tunixman>
or if I'd drop something I'd be able to grab it easier.
<KitsuWhooa>
aaah
<tunixman>
I once put it on a string to fish around behind my bench and get a long, thin screw I dropped from a 1948 bari sax.
<tunixman>
after I got it I realized that the back didn't go all the way to the floor so I could have just crawled under it.
<tunixman>
I was pretty pleased with myself until that point. The thing is I'd crawled under the bench so many times to pull things out from behind it I'd dropped, but for some reason I just had to make a fishing rod.

some weeks ago I got a copy of x-static goldmine from polestar magnetics
<andlabs_>
and now today I've scored a copy of the original 1994 zero-g ambient
