cr1901 changed the topic of ##yamahasynths to: Channel dedicated to questions and discussion of Yamaha FM Synthesizer internals and corresponding REing. Discussion of synthesis methods similar to the Yamaha line of chips, Sound Blasters + clones, PCM chips like RF5C68, and CD theory of operation are also on-topic. PC-486NoteAS looks like a nice little machine. I personally prefer the EPSON rom font to the NEC one
<myon98>
(Recently I'm mostly using MS-DOS/V's font for daily terminal use though)
<myon98>
By the way, are there any existing efforts in figuring out the exact details of the 2608/2610 ADPCM-B algorithm, or is it already done?
<myon98>
I always thought that the usual naive implementation of the described algorithm + linear interpolation as mentioned in the datasheet sounds very different from the actual chip output
<myon98>
And because it looks like too much multiplication considering the density of nMOS technology and how they went to great lenghts avoiding them for FM
<myon98>
I'm gradually restoring energy to do personal projects and recently started to look into the siliconpr0n's YM2610 die photo
<myon98>
Sometimes the details are bit blurred/have stiching errors compared to the great quality of the 2151 photo, but it looks like the blocks related to ADPCM-B are less affected

TD-Linux: caught up on your crt project, those deflection amplifiers sure ended up more complicated than the first pass
<sauce>
how many iterations did it take to get there?
<sauce>
the horizontal deflection being open loop is kinda wild
<cr1901>
If you were to make it closed loop, where you electrically tap the output of the horizontal deflection from (to send back as an error signal)?
<cr1901>
err to send back as a feedback signal sent to a summer which then forms the error signal*
