<rdbo> ifreund: do you think it would be a good idea to show the command when `riverctl` fails? for example, i have an error in my river init, but there are many commands, and the only output i get is: `error: unknown command`, along with the usage. maybe like: `error: unknown command: float-filter-add ...`  for example
<rdbo> or there is another way to find out the bad command?

<tiosgz> ifreund: mind updating the topic here to reflect the new home?
ChanServ changed the topic of #river to: "river - a dynamic tiling Wayland compositor || https://codeberg.org/river/river || channel logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/river/"
<ifreund> tiosgz: thanks for the reminder :)
<ifreund> if you want to get that patch you mentioned landed before 0.3.0 don't wait too long, I'd like to release sometime this week
<tiosgz> hmm. the quotes are from ChanServ?

<ifreund> what quotes? :P
<tiosgz> ifreund: oh. guess i don't need to wait for a reply from fcitx dev, as river's side is quite clear here. it can't have much more impact than the commit message
<tiosgz> gonna submit the patch in a moment
<ifreund> cool, I'll probably have a look tomorrow :)

<euclio> hi all, I'm looking to disable my laptop display if I'm plugged in to an external monitor when I close the lid. I see `riverctl map-switch` but I'm not sure what command would actually disable the display
<leon-p> eu
<leon-p> whiips
<leon-p> whoops* damn keyboard
<leon-p> euclio: what do you mean by "disable"? Turn off the physical display, but keep the locigal output, meaning windows are still allowed on it, or disable the logical output as well, so that windows get evacuated to the other?
<leon-p> for the formater, wlopm, for the latter, wlr-randr
<leon-p> or if you prefer it a bit more automatic, look into kanshi
<euclio> leon-p: the latter, and then I'd like to re-enable the logical output when I open the laptop lid again
<euclio> thanks, will check those out!
<leon-p> in theory you also will not need to check whether an external output exists in your switch handler, since everything /should/ survive the only existing output being destroyed and recreated, but there might be some issues
<leon-p> especially layershell widgets like panels might not be too happy about that, depending on how they implement surface creation
<euclio> good to know
