<lillian> what's the easiest way with rivertile of having windows on top of each other so they're all the size of the entire screen? i'll switch between them with riverctl later
<LarstiQ> iirc rivertile can't do that monocle layout, there are other layout generators that can do it. Personally I use riverguile

<Guest21> hi, are there any scrolling layouts for river?
<Guest21> (and if not) is the layout generator open enough to do something like that?

<dagle> It's a bit like alt+tab in windows meets tiling.

<leon-p> Arranging views outside the output bounds is not something the layout protocol was ever meant to do (positive integers) but with the current implementation at least in positive directions its possible
<dagle> A monocle mode is kinda a scrolling layout but without the peeking of adjacent windows.
<Guest21> Thanks, does that mean everything would need to start from top left? Or maybe save widths somewhere else and then sqiush them on the side of the screen
<Guest21> PS. If someone else is wondering. It's something like this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O6HplPR14k) or (slightly) version) newm

<pkulak> How does a monacle layout work? Since the layout manager doesn't know which window is focused, do you have to move a window to the top of the stack to look at it?

<ifreund> pkulak: river always renders windows in focus order, the layout ordering doesn't affect rendering order, only the order through which the next/previous commands cycle through windows

<pkulak> Oh wow, well that blows my mind a little bit. I was really frustrated by the lack of focus information, but I guess it really isn't needed.
