<Guest224> with pinephone volume goes 100% in every restart. It should save volume settngs for next start up like with Maemo5.
<Guest224> and 100% makes speaker distortion with some applications.

<Guest224> or should it work as F11 so can get back from full screen mode of latest Firefox.
<Guest224> Maybe it would be best that user can choose how pine-button works.
<sicelo> arno11, how are you setting landscape exactly?
<Guest224> It seems that latest Firefox can play 720p videos from finnish broadcasting company YLE web pages. lip sync is not tight. Funny was that by default automatic quality was 1080p and Pinephone tried to scale it short time :) I think BBC Reels has same kind of web page and it has not quality settings and it works like YLE at 1080p.
<Guest224> maybe somebody might try with droid4 with 360p quality?
<Guest224> total memory usage with Pinephone at video playing time was 1.1GB, so droid might swap not needed to swap.

<arno11> LandscapeCalls=True
<sicelo> one more question ... did you reboot in between? or at least kill sphone?
<arno11> in /usr/share/sphone/sphone.ini
<sicelo> you might have the old binary still running
<sicelo> sok
<arno11> nope because hiddencall=false works
<sicelo> so kill sphone, and start it anew
<sicelo> oh, mmm
<arno11> and now sphone is fast
<sicelo> I'll check again on my n900 shortly
<arno11> pkill and restart several times
<arno11> already done
<arno11> ok
<sicelo> taking forever at locales 😵‍💫
<arno11> oh yes lol
<arno11> issue solved
<arno11> use true instead of True
<arno11> in sphone.ini
<sicelo> ah :-)
<arno11> :)
<arno11> now it's ok and works pretty well with chrt 90 for sphone
<arno11> and 99 for pulseaudio and cmt_pulse
<arno11> and i recommend you to modify transitions.ini ;)

<tmlind> got mz617 modem visible on usb too with a pile of hacks, seems to only connect in gsm and 3g not lte mode
<tmlind> looks like the phy driver needs changes, and ehci-omap driver to support drivers/phy, still very flakey
<sicelo> i ended up rebooting. the modem was gone for more than 12 hours, going by the smses that came in after reboot
<sicelo> i wasn't aware of this, because the icon for modem was still showing

<uvos> Guest224: the d4's lte modem cant work anywhere (even in android) as it only supports a band only ever used by verizon and verizon wont activate the phone for you because it dosent support volte
<uvos> Guest224: mz617 has a totaly different unrelated modem that supports more bands and should work (in andorid, mainline linux pending)
<Guest224> uvos: good to know

<Guest224> Motorola Lapdock 500 Pro is perfect for Pinephone. Lapdock gives wrong monitor EDID number of its screen and Pinephone with Docking Bar HDMI cannot read it due hardware bug :) ..of course it needs cable with pull button to round test that is lapdock connected to Motorola phone.
<uvos> tmlind: dose sound work for you on 6.6 on a mapphone? i rebased our maemo linux fork on 6.6rc4 have audio-graph-card an endless defer loop, ultimately comeing from snd_soc_get_dlc returing defer as it cant find any componant.
<uvos> tmlind: ie the omap dai dosent apear to probe
<uvos> on the plus side hdmi-audio started working agin at some point between 6.1 and 6.6 so thats nice
<uvos> :P
<uvos> sicelo: ill fix the sphone commit no need to pr it
<Guest224> uvos: Good I just bought second hand small USB powered HDMI to SPDIF converter. Hoping that Maemo someday support audio to HDMI.
<uvos> Guest224: once the kernel is updated it should just work
<uvos> Guest224: however i dont understand why you would want to use hdmi audio in this case vs just using a usb soundcard via otg
<uvos> as that would work right now, be less cables and the micro hdmi connector is super fragile
<Guest224> it leaves room for another USB devices
<tmlind> uvos: see the mcbsp thread on linux-omap list
<tmlind> uvos: also see the related clock fix(es) i posted to linux-clk list, i think that's a partial fix only still
<Guest224> Does somebody know how much mA USB power can Droid4 or Pinephone can give? N900 can give 200 mA.
<tmlind> uvos: i have not gotten to rebasing d4 patches yet beyond the mz617 branch so far
<tmlind> 6.6 should be the stable kernel though makes sense to use that
* tmlind heading to vapaatorstai.fi now

<maxwelld> Guest224, i added most of the layouts, those were just separately installable keyboard layouts on fremantle. now they are available out of the box. but i did not figure out anything about hardware keyboards. i think it is hard because every device has a different keyboard. anyway, i didn't even think about hw keyboards.
<maxwelld> i know i am not very helpful on this question and i am even less helpful on others.
<maxwelld> i use lapdock with my droid4, i prepared special xorg.conf for it.
<maxwelld> when i need to use the lapdock i copy it to /etc/X11 https://github.com/norayr/home_sweet_home/blob/master/scripts/droid4/lapdock/xorg.conf
<maxwelld> and reboot. when i don't want to use it anymore i delete it and reboot.
<maxwelld> i also used lapdock with windowmaker as root, but i don't remember now how. maybe i uninstalled maemo stuff, and maybe i booted via emergency mode and then started some services and i certainly remember i used .xinitrc for that.
<maxwelld> i think it is much better to use windowmaker with lapdock than hildon (sorry for herecy in this channel).
<maxwelld> need to remember how i was doing that.
<maxwelld> Guest224, related to keyboard we (users, i am not a maemo dev, just did some small works) have more problems.
<maxwelld> Pinephone specific is that maemo used volume up button to trigger the battery. now it doesn't work because volume up button works for sound. i don't remember why was it working at all.
uvos has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]

<maxwelld> not pinephone specific is that onscreen keyboard doesn't work with just any x11 program. currently it has to be patched gtk2 or gtk3 from maemo repos, and then it works. and it works for some version(s) of qt i guess. i once found a function which could help when i was patching svkbd, but the devs said they know and it is not a good solution so well, i guess they are right.
<maxwelld> or maybe it works when you manually do setxkbmap and then use that keyboard, i remember something like that. anyway i just use leafpad now, write in it with maemo keyboard, and then copy paste to other places.
<maxwelld> of course this is when i use non-latin script.
<maxwelld> oh Guest224 is not here...

<Guest224> Pinephone Keyboard (Pinephone+Pinephone Keyboard) works in every application, I only use onscreen keyboard with letters that are not in default layout, that actually doesnt match to prints of keycaps (side of number keys)
<Guest224> maxwelld: your hint about setxkbmap guide me to right direction, I think that now I can setup hardware keyboards, but have to make some edits.
<Guest224> I think right way to make virtual keybord to work all apps is make it to look like hardware keyboard to lower level system.

<maxwelld> from what i remember pp keyboard works differently under maemo and under postmarketos last time i tried. it was said here once that the reason is xkb-data which needs to be imported to maemo, but i don't remember. i didn't use hwkbd for some times because it makes pp thick and it works fine with svkbd and sxmo.

<Guest224> I might have to do keycodes, keymap and rules files specially for Pinephone Keyboard...or check how they PMOS devs have done it.
<maxwelld> yeah i remembered. the xfree function i mentioned is able to add a symbol to current xkb layout.
<maxwelld> so doing setxkbmap would be not necessary.

<Guest224> and if I want make new keycodes file then I have to also edit current keymaps and rules files.
<maxwelld> whatever i say can be wrong. i don't understand anything: i can suggest to use xev program to get a keycode of pine keyboard and modify some xkb layout to react somehow to it. maybe use xkb layout from other os, maybe mobian?
