<sicelo> must have broken recently. it was working when i sent my USB issue to mailing list three weeks ago. interestingly enough, the actual threads are accessible, e.g. https://lists.dyne.org/lurker/thread/20221011.104411.bf9dcced.en.html

<freemangordon> uvos__: what does 0V at d4 b+/- pads mean? fully depleted battery or protection circuit behaving?
<freemangordon> IOW - is it safe to disassemble such battery with the hammer or I shall be careful still?

<tmlind> sicelo: strange if there's some new n900 musb issue, i though the patch from hns attempted to fix it. note that i mostly reverted his patch as it broke droid4 if you're using a branch based on that, maybe check with plain mainline kernel?
<tmlind> freemangordon: if taking apart the battery, watch out for the goo tearing off the microwire chip from the battery eeprom/temp controller if you want to keep it around

<Guest224> sicelo: I dropped to rabid hole when you friday mentioned Gigabyte M528 800x480 pocket pc. It is whole OEM family yelling Maemo Leste! It same as these devices: Compal Jax10, Aigo P88?? (9 models total!), SFR M! PC Pocket (French Linux installed in factory!), Itelco IDOL and Alice Mobile MID IDOL.
<Guest224> These devices has even mini pci-e connector for modem, there is even info how to upgrade models that dont has 3G-hdspa...I just wondering is there mini pci-e 5G modem s available these days...
<uvos> the problem with these umpcs was that they generally had crap battery life
<Guest224> that is true even manual says 2-4 hours battery life...but battery is easy to swap.
<Guest224> hmm..interesting there is mini pci-e to m.2 5G adapter...only problem might be can it fitt it those devices...I just start wondering upgrade Nokia Booklet 3G to 5G ;D
<sicelo> :-)

<mp107> Guest224: I use a M.2 4G/LTE WWAN card (EM7455) with a M.2->miniPCIe adaper on my X230 and it works fine
<mp107> but it needed antenna adapters too as the ports are different
<Guest224> mp107: thanks...good to know.
<mp107> The con is that an antenna adapter caused slightly worse signal on Wi-Fi so there may be some signal loss on the cellular bands as well
<mp107> especially on high 5G bands such as 26 GHz band or C band (~3.6-4.2 GHz)
<mp107> but on Wi-Fi it was noticeable only on low signal conditions so it should not be that bad :)
<Wizzup> I used a quectel eg25 card in my x230 iirc
<Wizzup> worked ok with the non-wifi antennas
<Guest224> adapters works as low pass filter for high frequencies so that can be real problem...should be solder.
<mp107> Right, there still are 4G LTE miniPCIe cards. But I chose a M.2 card because they are much cheaper, available in large quentites from used "business-class" notebooks
<mp107> And before buying it is necessary also to make sure if the interface is available in the notebook. Most of the WWAN cards do use an USB interface but as far as I know there also are some that use PCI lanes for communication (not sure if exclusively or as an alternative to USB) but not every notebook has the PCI lanes available on the WWAN card slot
<Guest224> good to know.
