<uvos> freemangordon: wait you tagged out h-d without affecting the other changes
<uvos> Wizzup: parazyd: could one of you affect the changes mentioned https://github.com/maemo-leste/hildon-desktop/pull/14 in the the first comment
<uvos> ie make the meta package not install hildon-desktop-rotation-support conflicting it instead and removeing dbus-scripts
<uvos> leste-configas well as the postins change for
<uvos> *as well as the postins change for leste-config
<uvos> hildon-desktop-rotation-support can then be deleted from the repos/jenkins entirely
<uvos> and archived
<Wizzup> does h-d also conflict with the rotation package?
<uvos> no but that would be a good idea
<Wizzup> It really should I think
<uvos> yes
<Wizzup> I can do it a bit later, but prefer that parazyd does it
<uvos> ok
<uvos> but devel will be a bit broken untill you do
<Wizzup> mhm
<freemangordon> uvos: what other packages?
<freemangordon> *other changes
<uvos> the pr you merged replaces a scripty hack i wrote to do the same thing previously
<freemangordon> I see
<uvos> its really racy and now you will have the 2 methods fighting
<freemangordon> ok, going to fix that
<Wizzup> I think the conflict might just go it, depending on what pulls in the rotation pkg (some meta pkg)
<Wizzup> or Replaces: maybe
<uvos> well that breaks meta
<uvos> and leste-config
<uvos> so no replaces is not sufficant
<freemangordon> I don;t want to add Replaces: in h-d
* Wizzup bbiab
<freemangordon> uvos: I think the best approach would be to just remove any functionality from hildon-desktop-rotation-support and release a new version
<uvos> and then? i dont think leaving a empty package on users devices forever is a good idea
<uvos> a conflicts somewhere sounds more sane
<uvos> imo
<freemangordon> or, we can add Replaces and Conficts to the metapackage
<uvos> right
<freemangordon> which package is that?
<uvos> replaces is not nessecary even
<freemangordon> do you know?
<freemangordon> it is
<uvos> not sure no
<uvos> hildon-meta would be my gues
<uvos> freemangordon: no why replaces?
<uvos> freemangordon: conflicts should be enough nothing depends on this package
<freemangordon> we need both Replaces and Confilcts so hildon-desktop-rotation-support to be uninstalled upon metapackage upgrade
<uvos> freemangordon: (leste-config might but you have to remove that anyhow it calls the script directly)
<freemangordon> that's how it works
<uvos> ok
* freemangordon checks what is leste-config
<uvos> would have thought if we remove all the requires and then have a package conflict then apt would just uninstall
<freemangordon> no, IIRC
<freemangordon> ok, it is hildon-meta that depends on hildon-desktop-rotation-support
<freemangordon> uvos: what it is about "(13,20,08) uvos: freemangordon: (leste-config might but you have to remove that anyhow it calls the script directly)"?
<freemangordon> who calls what script?
<uvos> freemangordon: postins
<uvos> freemangordon: calls the rotation script
<freemangordon> of hildon-meta?
<uvos> of leste-config
<freemangordon> that doesn;t make sense to me
* freemangordon chacks
<uvos> its because udevadm trigger
<uvos> causes the x to reinitalize the input devices
<uvos> this causes the rotation to unapply
<uvos> so leste-config just rotates them back using the script
<uvos> as it stands now this is no longer a problem
<uvos> because the reintalized xinput devices will be picked up by hildon
<uvos> -desktop
<freemangordon> uvos: I don;t see anything like that in leste-config, could you point it for me?
<uvos> sure sec
<uvos> the same thing is in all .postinst
<freemangordon> :(
<uvos> yes this is hacky :P
<freemangordon> ok, I'll just revert and have a release
<uvos> thats why i replaced it
<uvos> dont look at /usr/bin/hildon-desktop-rotate-touchscreen.sh im ashamed :P
<freemangordon> no, I am sad because it is copied amongst all the .postinst files
<freemangordon> ok, will not :)
<freemangordon> uvos: this rotation script hack is for mapphone and pocophone-f1 only, right?
<uvos> no anything that rotates
<uvos> so should be anything but n900
<freemangordon> well, I mean postinst calling the script
<uvos> pretty sure its deployed on pp to
<uvos> otherwise portrait mode would not work there
<uvos> oh you mean in leste-config
<freemangordon> yeah
<uvos> there its only wherever udevadm trigger is also needed
<uvos> that might be only mapphones and f1 yeah
<freemangordon> shall I remove udevadm trigger call as well?
<uvos> no
<freemangordon> ok
<uvos> its needed for unlreated reasons
<uvos> (we have udev hw config files that might change and need udev to update its database)
<freemangordon> ok

<freemangordon> uvos: actually it needs Replaces:, Conflicts: and Provides: in order to auto-remove hildon-desktop-rotation-support
<freemangordon> parazyd: correct^^^ ?

<uvos> freemangordon: dosent work
<uvos> freemangordon: apt simply holds hildon-meta back
<uvos> freemangordon: upgrading meta explicitly via apt install dose work
<Wizzup> uvos: what about apt dist-upgrade?
<uvos> to late
<uvos> but yeah that might wokr

<uvos> new sphone should start fine with the xsession script (and survive ofono restarts)
<kona> is there a | on the n900 hw kbd?
<Wizzup> there is a special vkb popup for those keys
<kona> hmm, just close kb and use vkb?
<Wizzup> no, there is a key combo to press
<Wizzup> let me check
<Wizzup> blue array + ctrl/sym
<Wizzup> s/array/arrow/
pere has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
<kona> i think i must be doing it wrong :(
<kona> the two keys on upper left? in order? togetherD
<kona> ?
<kona> probably matters that i'm in osso-xterm
<Wizzup> let me boot my leste phone to test for you
<Wizzup> hmmm
<Wizzup> looks like it's broken
<kona> ok, boo broken, yay not holding it wrong.
<kona> also boo me not having run expandcard.sh
<buZz> kona: OK + P
<buZz> thats |
<buZz> oh n900, no idea there
<uvos> he uses n900
<kona> sorry, she :)
<uvos> it uses n900 :P
<uvos> there every one is included
<Wizzup> so I also cannot summon special keys vkb on d4
<uvos> whats the key combination on d4?
<Wizzup> so it's broken I think
<kona> can't tell if i've been upgraded or downgraded to android 11 :P
<Wizzup> uvos: iirc [OK] + [sym]
<Wizzup> could be [OK] + shift as well, not sure
<kona> i think buZz said OK+P is pipe
<buZz> yep
<buZz> OK+P on droid4
<uvos> on d4
<uvos> this is machine specific
<buZz> for | , not for vkb
<Wizzup> buZz: no! ok + p does not summon vkb
<Wizzup> ok, yes
<Wizzup> but that's not the point :)
<buZz> thats what i said Wizzup :) np
<buZz> *hug*
<Wizzup> :)
<uvos> i hope i dident break it by accident
<uvos> while adding the x11 backend
<uvos> this is the most recent change
<Wizzup> I think it might be that
<kona> ok, i can just use vkb for | for now if i really need to.
* uvos ducks
<Wizzup> yeah, but we need to fix this :)
<kona> this will help me break the bad habit of 'cat foo | less' instead of 'less foo' anyway.
<uvos> heh
<Wizzup> I don't think that is a bad habit
pere has joined #maemo-leste
<uvos> right its the fault for needing | not our fault
<uvos> clearly
<uvos> *right its the users fault for needing | not our fault
<kona> lol exactly! :)
<kona> now to find out if i need to repave my sd card.
<kona> surf can load a web page now, so maybe i'm ok!
<buZz> maybe you can patch bash to replace | with a different symbol ;)
<uvos> not sure why you would ever want to do that, besides fixing the vkb messing with xkb to add a | would make more sense than taht
<kona> sed -i s/\|/£/g < /bin/bash
<buZz> :)
<buZz> hehe exactly
<kona> yes, fixing would be preferable of course.

<kona> uvos: i think i narrowed down what's not rendering on the pinephone for trojita. there's a dialogue to accept the server cert that never shows up, and because of that, it never tries to auth with the server. but it doesn't print anything (if you start from console) or log anything, or put anything in the proto log about it.
<kona> I might try to investigate when build deps for modesty frustrate me
uvos has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]

<freemangordon> kona: besides tinimail-gnomevfs and microb-engine-dev, what else do you miss? ghtml4?
<freemangordon> *gkthtml4
<kona> Some html, yes.
<kona> So far that's all I've found missing
inky_ has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
<freemangordon> right. hopefully, it shouldn't be that hard to port from gtkhtml3 to gtkhtml4
