<Guestsaslsroflmm> Hi there,
<Guestsaslsroflmm> I am trying to apply two patches but they keep failing to apply https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/list/?submitter=180
<Guestsaslsroflmm> Basically I have a use case where I transcribe a live stream using whisper and I need to append to a webvtt file and have that muxed over; but I need to have the mpegts offset in the webvtts
<Guestsaslsroflmm> I send over and these two patches seem to be exactly what I am looking for.
<Guestsaslsroflmm> I am not sure in which branch do I apply them? Because on all the release ones they seem to come up with conflicts
<courmisch> Guestsaslsroflmm: presumably master branch commit from the date the patch was submitted

<frankplow> When I look at https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/list/?series=12546, why is patch 05/11 missing? It's on the ML
<elenril> patchwork works in mysterious ways
<elenril> also, that thread has been broken by microsoft

<BBB> so say that I'm on apple m1 and I'm trying to configure an old-fashioned x86-64 ffmpeg (or vice versa). what configure command would I use? I figured it was just --arch=arm64 or --arch=x86_64 but that doesn't appear to do the right thing
<BBB> or are the default toolchains not both-arch-compatible?
<another|> AFAIK GCC isn't. Cla
<another|> Clang might be
<BBB> right, with clang
<another|> Did you add -target to your cc?
<BBB> I just tried, and it is getting further now
<BBB> I assume you mean in --extra-cflags / --extra-ldflags
feiw2 has joined #ffmpeg-devel
feiw1 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<another|> Not sure where exactly
<another|> I'd probably add them to --cc
<jamrial> BBB: i think you need to add --enable-cross-compile, --target-os, and --arch
<BBB> enable-cross-compile indeed. arch I already had. target-os seems unnecessary since it's same as build machine
<BBB> Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library arm64
<BBB> that's nice

<courmisch> just a slight downgrade from your desktop beast
<Lynne> heh
<courmisch> 16 GiB RAM, 1 TiB SSD, AI Fusion Computing Engine, what could possibly go wrong? who cares it's got no Vulkan (probably)
<Lynne> its got a K1!
<courmisch> with eight X60s
<Lynne> somehow lower memory bandwidth than a 908
<Lynne> err, don't they use the regular K1 cores?
<courmisch> K1 is a SoC with 8 X60 cores
<Lynne> yeah, those cores aren't very fast, I'm surprised they need a fan at all
<courmisch> that could work for demoing FFmpeg or VLC on RISC-V but not sure it can do anything else
<courmisch> Lynne: maybe you can't easily source a laptop chassis without fan?
<courmisch> or the chassis itself sucks at dissipating heat

<Traneptora> it's self-employed
<JEEB> ramiro: I think we recently bumped the requirement to c11, and during that the minimums got bumped, I think it's like gcc 4.9+, then whatever the msvc version was? not sure which version of clang
<ramiro> JEEB: thanks. 4.9.0 (2014) is right around the time the LOAD_LIBRARY_SEARCH_* flags were introduced to mingw-w64, but I'd have to hard check the specific releases.
