SiFuh: Fun fact, the production of litheum batteries for use in all electric vehicles produces far more pollution than real vehicles do after a decade of driving.
<remiliascarlet>
I already knew that covid was just a scam since all the way back in January 2020. Even the China videos looked fake as fuck.
<remiliascarlet>
And seeing so much of my family who called me "dumb", "insane", "conspiracy theory", and so on now either dead or suffering for life after getting the jabs, I'm really glad I never took any.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: heh
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: most of my family and friends didn't touch it.
<remiliascarlet>
Good to know.
<remiliascarlet>
The next community just permabanned me for saying the name of a world famous Austrian Hollywood actor.

<ppetrov^>
missdeps will tell you if sth is installed but not in the deps tree anymore
<SiFuh>
prtorphan doesn't work so well
<r0ni>
i mean i know i can view old ports tree anyway, so just going thru installe dports that may be missing deps i guess is all i'd need to do
<SiFuh>
r0ni: for i in $(prt-get listinst) ; do prt-get depends "${i}" |grep "\[ " ; done
<farkuhar>
No problem rebuilding wl-clipboard-rs here. And just yesterday it was working perfectly fine, so maybe the breakage only manifests under a Wayland compositor that I'm not using.
<r0ni>
I feel maybe my repo is going to get too large to just be called 'crux-xfce4' maybe i'll separate things eventually, but maybe i shouldn't for ease of use
<SiFuh>
r0ni: to be honest, having an XFCE repo whether large or not, is still perfect
<r0ni>
many included ports have little to nothing to do with xfce though, i feel separation from libs and desktop may be needed eventually
<SiFuh>
Yeah for sure
<r0ni>
i'll leave that thought for another day, but as it grows i ponder that
<SiFuh>
r0ni/xfce4 r0ni/other_fancy_stuff
<r0ni>
i'll keep it as one for now, maybe next crux or xfce release I'll change things up
<SiFuh>
Sounds fine to me since a repo only pulls in what it needs right? Through dependencies.
<r0ni>
i have a 4.19 repo i haven't even tested yet lol
<r0ni>
SiFuh right, no one would get anything they didn't need in the end
<r0ni>
arm machine tells me only 4 ports, and one is my fault, one seems a gstreamer dep that was dropped (liba52), others are vte3 and gparted
<r0ni>
not bad
<r0ni>
ok, gparted, libbluray, and vte3 are now in my repo
<SiFuh>
r0ni: gparted can operate as normal user now?
<r0ni>
no, but with polkit-gnome one can auth as root to use it
<SiFuh>
Eww
<r0ni>
TBH for a desktop app, that's perfect. you don't want users formatting the drive ;)
<farkuhar>
It looks like any backup copies of apulse are in users' private overlays. If Guest30 comes back and still reports failure with pulseaudio and pipewire, now we don't even have the apulse port as a fallback. Sharing the apulse Pkgfile via pastebin will have to suffice, if it comes to that.

ukky wrote this patch http://ix.io/4FDS to suppress the error "not a directory" when removing a package whose footprint mistakenly classifies /var/run (for example) as directory rather than symlink. But if you try to run the patched pkgrm for a package with nontrivial footprint, the process consumes far too much CPU and memory.
<farkuhar>
For example, `pkgrm papirus-icon-theme` has been running at least five minutes, with no sign of finishing anytime soon. And ukky's patch only addresses one aspect of FS#15; the other issue (raised by jue ten years ago) is not targeted by ukky's patch.
<farkuhar>
My initial approach to FS#15 was to focus on the db_find_conflicts function, and try to use the target filesystem to obtain canonical paths. But false positives might still be unavoidable, in the event that a port decides to move its config or header directories, leaving behind a backward-compatibility symlink that realpath(3) cannot resolve at the time of running pkgadd -u.
<farkuhar>
Heh, after 20+ minutes the command `pkgrm papirus-icon-theme` finally finished. Funny that in testing a proposed fix for FS#15, the command spits out a different error: "directory not empty". Why not run `touch icon-theme.cache` inside each subdirectory of $PKG/usr/share/icons, so that those cache files get included in the footprint (right now they're only created by post-install) and can be removed automatically when running pkgrm?
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: That turned out well
<SiFuh>
I will try this style
<SiFuh>
Why the bread is brown and on the right the yeast is really limited for 12 hours.
<SiFuh>
Is there a nice slightly sour flavor also?
lavaball has quit [Quit: lavaball]
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: it'll probably have a sour flavor. But before cutting into it, I should go shopping for something to put between the bread slices.
<SiFuh>
Hahaha
<SiFuh>
A good sour bread can be eaten alone
<farkuhar>
Sorry about the excessive shadow in the photos. I was using a borrowed iPad and I didn't know how to activate the flash bulb.
<SiFuh>
I want to try this twin mix
<SiFuh>
I have one question
<SiFuh>
What is the pot for in the last two photos?
<farkuhar>
To raise the height and bring the loaf closer to the overhead light. Even still, the shadows detract from the photo composition.
<SiFuh>
Understood
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: it looks fabulous.
<farkuhar>
Thanks, I look forward to having some with my next meal.
<SiFuh>
I look forward to you posting the recipe
<SiFuh>
I think your twin bread problem could solve my garlic issue
<farkuhar>
Heh, prt-get fsearch icon-theme.cache returns no hits. So if anyone tries to pkgrm one of the icon-theme ports, they'll hit the "directory not empty" error, with or without ukky's patch. At least with the unpatched pkgrm, they won't have to wait 20+ minutes to see the error.
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: what garlic issue?
<SiFuh>
Garlic kills yeast
<SiFuh>
Yeast raises bread
<SiFuh>
Interesting how making beer is pretty similar to making bread
<cruxbot>
[contrib.git/3.7]: vte3: adopted, updated to version 0.74.0
<farkuhar>
I actually didn't get to restock my pantry before slicing up the bread. Thankfully I still had some blueberry preserves and a spread made from roasted eggplant, red peppers.
