<Sabotender>
are you lot using a Discord-irc bridge? I had a discord account once, but I was using that two factor authentication with google authenticator and then my mobile broke completely one day beyond my expertise to repair it and I was not able to recover the google authenticator data and when you do that type of extended auth you are SOL if you lose it. there is no way to recover from it and Discord doesn't seem to care about recovering passwords or
<Sabotender>
resetting accounts that have two factor enabled. I will never return to discord because I lost all of my work because I am a programmer and was writing scripts for a bot on a particular channel
<Sabotender>
so I say this: enable two factor at your own risk 🙍♂️
<IgorPec>
we use 2FA for our forums too
<IgorPec>
but its optional
<IgorPec>
for normal members

Oh, I see. I would welcome voice chat again sometime. But I was quite furious about that incident, heh.
<Sabotender>
I was looking over the various features that my wireless adapter supports and they are quire impressive. that concurrent mode is nice. Able to operate as both a client and access point
<Sabotender>
I could have just purchased a single adapter. I have two thinking that I would need both

<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> if you have concurrent mode working (well), this is IMO considered as luck

<Sabotender>
no I don't have anything working, I was just looking at what the driver that I was trying to compile offered
<stipa>
88x2bu doesn't have concurrent mode?
<Sabotender>
that's why I wanted to compile it so badly, lol
<stipa>
i have that adapter, where did you get stuck?
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> aha, and 5.4 are direct from their repo
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> this is their officially supported kernekl
<stipa>
yeah, it's them to blame
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> well, broken headers is kind a norm for BSP kernels
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> while this is not BSP, just old and broken for some reason
<stipa>
yeah, it's hard to believe that some of those fancier vendors that search a lot of money for pretty much everything, from shipping to some daughter boards offer an image that can't compile a driver
<stipa>
that's a garbage can material
<Sabotender>
I am absolutely willing to use an older image, but I only know of the link I used to download the cli version of bullseye....should I try with jammy? https://www.armbian.com/odroid-xu4/
<stipa>
try it in hopes that one will work
<stipa>
there's not much else you could do than to try nd hope
<Sabotender>
okay, I'll try it, but if the default driver isn't working for general connection to the internet, I'll really be in trouble
<stipa>
there should be a driver,i guess if i have it it's in all images for all boards
<stipa>
it works ok
<stipa>
it's an older one but it works
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> Sabotender: older images won't help
<stipa>
i don't use it just because i hope that newer works better, but idk if that's really the case
<Sabotender>
oh, blah. My hope was rising moment by moment, so I suppose I'll cancel the download of Jammy
<Sabotender>
oh it identifies the adapter alright, but I can't configure it via nmtui
<stipa>
fuck nmtiu
<stipa>
do it manually
<stipa>
what does 'iw dev' gives you?
<stipa>
is it empty or there's wlan0 there listed?
<stipa>
if it's empty you're probably missing the driver
<stipa>
but linux recognises that it's plugged in because it's on the 'lsusb' list
<stipa>
what you could to is to try to compile the driver again
<stipa>
remember you're now using kernel 6.0 not 5.4
<stipa>
if driver will be installed you'll see the adapter in the 'iw dev' list, then the nmtui will see the interface as well
<Sabotender>
nmcli device show dowsn't list the adapter at all.just the ethernet adapter it seems and the loopback
<stipa>
then driver is not installed
<stipa>
aka module on linux
<stipa>
when the module is ok the wifi interface will be visible all over the place
<Sabotender>
I can't compile anything without a connection to the internet. Ethernet is not available for me
<stipa>
go to nmtui and activate the ethernet connection
<stipa>
set it up
<stipa>
probably DHCP
<Sabotender>
I dont have access to ethernt connections. wireless only or us tethering with my mobile, and I just tried that
<stipa>
well, you have to connect oto the net somehow
<Sabotender>
I can't use this version unfortunately. I'm in the same situation with several other images I had to deal with
<stipa>
or you could transfer files via usb memory stick
<Sabotender>
i'm sorry but that is impossible
<stipa>
and install all you need manually
<stipa>
well, you need some minimal tools
<stipa>
like usb to serial and ethernet connection
<stipa>
if you're really fucked up you can transfer files and install things manually
<stipa>
you can put files to the sd card, to an usb disk, to an usb stick...
<stipa>
like in good old days
<stipa>
you can put file to the sdcard
<stipa>
on the card the armbian is installed on
<stipa>
with the card reader you've created image with
<stipa>
just mount it
<stipa>
on the machine where yo burned the image to the sd card
indy has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
<stipa>
and transfer on it what you need and then put it back in the board and the files should be where you put them
<Sabotender>
you are asking me to download each deb file manually, including all dependencies and put them on the micro sd card image and install everything manually which I am not prepared to do because I don't know how to do that on my own
<Sabotender>
I am sorry. I will wait for that merge to take place
<stipa>
yeah, the hard way
<stipa>
it's always the hard way

Has someone tested Orange PI 800 with armbian?
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> I have a while ago. It was working well. There was no VPU acceleration but all others worked well.

<yang2>
nice
<yang2>
NicoD did you buy it on Aliexpress?
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> No I didn't buy it.
<Sabotender>
ZOMG I got the driver to compile with the original hardkernel image and I was able to successfully activate the shared hotspot connection and make a connection with a wireless client. So I can confirm that driver works with my wireless adapter and i will continue to use it in this situation.

<Tenkawa> @rpardini peiwei's latest post fixed the kernel problem... (at least for me)... I'm testing the full build now.. CONFIG_RASPBERRYPI_FIRMWARE=y has to be explicitly added
