what would be the most efficient way to run `echo "all status $(battery) $(volume)" >/tmp/1000-runtime-dir/sandbar-0` I tried the example in the sandbar repo but it didnt work. sorry for asking here but I do not have a github account and this isnt really an issue, but a skill issue on my part.
<Guest9>
I want to update each part of the bar at different intervals, or update volume only when it changes as an example

trying to do image loading now. seems like there is no generic image loading library in the foss world that doesn't either pull in gobject, or is some ancient mess
<leon-p>
trying to decide whether to use freeimage, imlib2 or - and i know it sounds weird but genuinely seems like the most sane choice her - use the image magick C bindings
<leon-p>
or just use libpng, libjpeg, etc., directly
<leon-p>
imlib2 also has neat vector and text drawing stuff, which might be neat for fancy UI, but a) i already have ui code using pixman and b) it has a history of security issues (its from the enlightenment project adter all)
<leon-p>
image magick has very whacky effects for manipulating and even creating images, but it seems to be somewhat slow
<leon-p>
yeah, I'll do font drawing first

<LarstiQ>
NickH: ah, it's in!
<NickH>
LarstiQ: still needs to be approved by the FTP masters
<LarstiQ>
fingers crossed
<LarstiQ>
NickH: did the binary blob issue get resolved somehow?
<NickH>
Yeah there is some discusion on the debian-devel list
<NickH>
But the main thing that got it to move forward is that there is a DD that wants to package ghostty
<NickH>
Prior to that there was no one in Debian sufficiently interested in Zig
<NickH>
It all happened in a matter of days while I was AFK on vacation
