<Murr>
teepee: I ran across some interesting problems when trying to render your model (with the emoji): (1) On Linux, only OpenSansEmoji works, Noto Emoji does not. (2) On Mac, no Emoji fonts I tried work — not even OpenSansEmoji. Any idea what could be happening?
<teepee>
Murr: yeah, noto emoji is difficult as it has color svg too, I think one option is adding color=false to the font selector
<Murr>
interesting. I installed the Monochrome Noto Emoji font. You're saying that still has color elements?

Murr: hmm, I guess that should work, maybe do --debug=FontCache that should show the lookup

The message I got was: WARNING: Can't set font size for font Noto Emoji:style=Regular
<Murr>
Could it have to do with this originally being a variable weight font (despite me using a static variant)?

weird OpenScad wouldn't open today not sure why, tried to upgrade to new build, it didn't really work and froze the system for a while, had to uninstall and reinstall openscad now it works fine. couldn't tell what caused it.

pca006132: I've tagged the 2 new gsoc issues with 2025, shall we also move over the 2 topics from 2024?

<FireBeard>
hello again
<FireBeard>
so whomever I spoke to last, about a possible site redesign
<FireBeard>
I have not forgotten ! :)
sinned69158 has joined #openscad
<FireBeard>
I can redesign just the site as it is, with the same layout and all, which makes sense and would be easy, with the menusystem and everything in the same spots, etc
<FireBeard>
so it would be more of a re-colour of the site, if that makes sense
<FireBeard>
how about the logo, is that a fixed logo, or is that up for possible change?
<teepee>
totally changing the logo is probably a no, but some sort of update / simplification seems fine. I did not yet dig out the older example
<FireBeard>
I'm asking because the logo doesn't really work when scaled down like a favicon for instance
<FireBeard>
yea ok :)
<FireBeard>
thanks
<teepee>
let me see if I can find that logo quick
<FireBeard>
I think I talked to you last time, right?
<FireBeard>
teepee: also 'be warned' if you are ok with a possible redesign with me, that will also mean that I could be taking some time, and I don't work well with deadlines and such, I hope that's ok
<teepee>
yeah, and InPhase I believe
<FireBeard>
are you talking about the logo in the upper left corner?
<teepee>
that's fine, I would have liked to do something about the pages for maybe 5 years :)

<FireBeard>
hahaha, ok :D
<teepee>
yes, there might be seprate files too...
fling has joined #openscad
<FireBeard>
that's fine, I can recreate it
<FireBeard>
that's quite the nice logo, very scalable
<FireBeard>
and recognizable too
<teepee>
refresh the imgur ^
<FireBeard>
nothing changed
<teepee>
scroll to bottom?
<FireBeard>
reupload maybe?
<FireBeard>
oh ah
Non-ICE has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<FireBeard>
not sure what you're trying to show me, but the logo is still the same
<FireBeard>
sorry, I must not understand you
<FireBeard>
are you maybe talking about that icon above the 'communications' header? because that looks like the logo, but simplified, right?
<FireBeard>
oh, above the 'combinations' header even
Non-ICE has joined #openscad
<FireBeard>
I hope I informed you about my idiocy
<InPhase>
FireBeard: FYI, I prepared this text like 6 weeks ago, intending to update the About page: https://bpa.st/RQWA It can be used in an update. I had also intended to swap out "The Programmers Solid 3D Modeller" with the grammatically improved and more appropriate, "Programmatic 3D CAD Modeling".
<FireBeard>
InPhase: fine, but I am NOT the one to talk to about that at all :D
<InPhase>
FireBeard: Our About page text, and other usages which draw from it, have gotten dated. And this text fixes it.
<InPhase>
FireBeard: Well, I figured if you were going to change things, that'd be source material. Unless you're only planning on rearranging layout. :)
<FireBeard>
haha, ok, but I'm JUST a person off the street that saw the website and offered to redesign it, because I'm a UI designer
<teepee>
so that was some effort at a redesign that never went live
<teepee>
I still like the slogan :)
<teepee>
what's the technical view? openscad.org is a static website generated via github
<FireBeard>
teepee: did you design those icons above 'creative coding' 'combinations' and 'transformations'
<FireBeard>
because I love those !
<teepee>
no, and I don't know who did, but kintel should know who did all the design stuff
<FireBeard>
teepee: I'm a purely [UI] webdesigner appdesigner, so JUST what you see and interact with on the site, nothing more
<FireBeard>
:D
<FireBeard>
teepee: how did you find those icons ?
<FireBeard>
I think they are so fun !
<teepee>
yeah, it's a bit like 80-ies physics game show :)
<FireBeard>
yea ! :D
<FireBeard>
haha, I love the look
<teepee>
I do like how they work with the green yellow color scheme
<teepee>
so what I need from the new website is easy adding of news articles, right now that's a pain
<FireBeard>
I like the color scheme of the icons, we can keep that for sure
<FireBeard>
it's a very safe feeling scheme
<teepee>
if things go slowly, I can take care of that
<FireBeard>
teepee: oh, you seem to misunderstand, I'm a designer ONLY, I'd be giving your website a nice looking and easy to navivate skin, but that is about it
