oh, there was MakerWorld Drama, missed it
<
teepee>
they are also registered in Germany? Bambulab GmbH
<
J23k89>
what drama?
<
J23k89>
who wants babulab if you can have magneto X from peopoly
<
teepee>
between them and prusa
<
J23k89>
did they fight?
<
teepee>
well, I'm far from a fanboy, but I'm still going with a prusa printer, so there's that :)
<
teepee>
yeah, seems mostly about importing designs and stuff
<
J23k89>
you get an MK4 for 25000 prusameter .. seems to be a bad deal
<
teepee>
I don't think I would reach that in my lifetime
<
teepee>
they do take money aswell
<
teepee>
we'll see, jumping from MK1 to MK4 :)
<
J23k89>
it is about 72 spools worth about 1,800 - that is double of the printer or? .. however the XL has some nice features ..
<
teepee>
I can't even select MK1 in prinables, so I have to lie owning a MK2
<
teepee>
while I like the idea of a bigger printer, I don't think I realistically need one
<
J23k89>
I was thinking about using linear motors (or even an xy array) .. and now magneto X done that mit 3μm resolution .. no vfa anymore
<
teepee>
I think for going big a laser cutter would be much more sensible
<
teepee>
who knows, maybe we'll get one in the company if we need to move into a new place
<
teepee>
that said, my dream solution would be a laser cutting service shipping via DHL into packstation
<
J23k89>
we have one in our hackerspace .. it is nice and fast (but not for metal)
<
J23k89>
there are a lot laser cutting services .. but not always cheap
<
teepee>
yeah, I did browse around quite a bit, and there's always a huge catch
<
J23k89>
and you get 20W UV diode laser for around 100€
<
teepee>
that would not do acryl though
<
J23k89>
i strapped a smaller one to my printer .. works a charm
<
teepee>
so I don't think I'd like that
<
J23k89>
black acryl Ü

<
teepee>
right, fully opaque would work
<
teepee>
I do like the idea of being able to cut transparent
<
J23k>
acryl is mechanically not that great
<
J23k>
cutting pom is nice for making gears
<
teepee>
for mechanical stuff, I'd go with wood then
<
J23k>
if you go below 400nm you should be able to cut acryl
<
teepee>
still for small boxes, especially layered stuff, it's also cool
<
J23k>
with the right power you can cut wood and not getting that black cut but only light brown
<
J23k>
but you always have that burned smell with wood ..
<
teepee>
so for now a little bit more 3d printing :D
<
teepee>
and while I'm uploading my stuff to printables, I suppose the main place will be github
<
teepee>
a peertube style local hosting would be awesome
<
J23k>
yeah have seen and liked your boxes
<
teepee>
I'm still undecided if I want to move the thingiverse stuff over too
<
teepee>
that's all pretty old
<
teepee>
talking of thingiverse, I wonder if there's feedback from one of the main dev people there
<
teepee>
found some mentions in the prusa discussion :)
<
teepee>
oh, they did indeed quite a redesing
<
teepee>
ahem, redesign
