<Alicia>
sometimes modeling existing things with measurements helps as reference. not sure if that would work with a wall though

Alicia: this was a spur of the moment thing. i usually use radius with cylinder, but this time i used diameter everywhere. lots of things should've been doubled.
<JakeSays>
so the whole thing is just a weird design
<Alicia>
ah :)
<JakeSays>
i really should be putting together my second printer but i'm not in the mood
<teepee>
more!

<teepee>
aww, where's the bot if you need it
<teepee>
more?
<teepee>
othx: more?
<JakeSays>
teepee: yeah. my adhd can't handle waiting
<teepee>
anyway, driving trucks over led fixtures seems not ideal :)
<teepee>
othx: status?
<othx>
Gthx.NET version 2.23 2021-11-11: OK; Up for 2 days, 17 hours, 19 minutes, 8 seconds; mood: pretty good.

I'm playing around with multi-material-3d-printing. currently my workflow is that I have a model and use an IF with three settings (all, material1, material2) and render my model according to what I need. Exporting is a little bit cumbersome, because, weil set material1, click to export>3mf, set material 2, click to export>3mf.
<Holger22>
Is there a way to automate that? All it would need would be a very minimall scripting engine inside...
<InPhase>
Scripting for exports is not available inside. This is done with command-line scripting using the command line options of openscad, and passing in selections with the -D option.
<InPhase>
You can use anything you like to do the external scripting, although bash is an obvious choice for the simple stuff like that.

scopeuk: aren't these glue sticks? I have a very similar (optical ) plastic called polycaprolacton - melts at about 60°C and not sticky - great to fill forms while print is on the hotbed - however it is not a filament.
<Alicia>
not really following the conversation, but polycaprolacton/PCL filament is often sold for 3D pens (lower temp=safer for kids to handle)
<Jack21>
yes - not sure how reliable my extruders thermocouple would do at these low temp but could work. however would need a natural filament without pigments - and i assume for kids they have white in the white filament.
<Jack21>
i thought about building a mixer with two extruders into one nozzle (1.6) so i can feed clear and 10% white PETG
<Jack21>
creating my own filaments
<Scopeuk>
Jack21 they are hot melt glue sticks yes
<Scopeuk>
they work really well as glowy light guides for that size of led
<Jack21>
this works also well as diffusor for the SMD 5050 just a drop of hot glue onto them

i mean why installing snapshots if there isn't an issue - like you use some experimental feature and the RC will not have it

teepee: Well builds did not happen for Windows or Linux since Nov 19th, and the website has not updated its build number since Oct 19th.

The website build number for Linux updated. So something is slightly amiss.
<InPhase>
The poster probably mentally parsed 11 as 10 on the Linux one on the website. That would be the extent of partially blind. :)

we never really see what is there - we only think - and so this is a hallucination which we call reality if we think others have the same

teepee: Does the Windows have some sort of script that parses the snapshots directory? Or does something actively update that page when a build goes up and it's just broken?
<teepee>
which are updated via cron on the file server
<teepee>
and the windows update of that file is disabled currently
<InPhase>
Because of a Windows platform issue?
<teepee>
build issue, yes
<teepee>
there's probably some newer builds on the fileserver but those will not run
<InPhase>
Makes sense then. :)

regarding nightly snaps, snap now has the ability to install two versions from different channels at the same time (you have to turn it on though)
<ali1234>
i don't know if this would make things any easier to maintain
<ali1234>
i'm using it to have blender 2.9 and blender 3 installed at the same time
<teepee>
not sure, right now there's a release and a separate openscad-nightly
<ali1234>
yes, i know it's a different repo currently
<ali1234>
but you can have a stable and beta channel of the same package instead
<ali1234>
also you should get that green checkmark
<teepee>
I know, but handling that via the snapcraft automation seems too difficult
<ali1234>
i love that feature of snap
<teepee>
what checkmark?
<teepee>
like on twitter? ;-)
<ali1234>
for snaps that are "official" you can get a green checkmark
<ali1234>
pretty much yes
<teepee>
interesting, not sure why we would not get that
<ali1234>
well you have to ask for it somehow, and they verify you
<teepee>
I had to specifically apply for the openscad name as it was reserved
