<JakeSays> it was just announced that we're getting google fiber
<JakeSays> 2gb symmetric for less than what i pay now
<JakeSays> it'll probably be available about the time i move
<InPhase> 2Gbit would be pretty impressive. I'd need to buy a new router and some new ethernet switches to take advantage of that, but it would be worth it.
<InPhase> My home network is all 1Gbit right now, but my uplink is only 100Mbit symmetric.
<InPhase> Technically it hits about 110, but it's specified as 100.

<InPhase> Jack21: Okay... Ornaments.scacd is actually super clever.
<InPhase> Jack21: I looked at your png and thought, "What is Jack21 doing? These are supposed to be short examples." Then I opened the scad file and went... "Wait..." It took me a minute to sort out how you did that. :)
<InPhase> The way the two halves magically line up makes it look like it should not be possible with rotate_extrude.

<Jack21> InPhas: there is a more complex version of it (more features and ratched with fulcrum pin) https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/83902-waveball-twistable
<johnstein> JakeSays: I bought myself an ender 3 for christmas last year. it stayed in the box for about 2 weeks before christmas (wrapped) and then another week or two before I got around to setting it up. went pretty fast and painless though
<johnstein> Jack21: that lego block scad is dense. I'm assuming that ub.scad is doing some serious heavy lifting behind the scenes
<Jack21> johnstein: mostly for the hyperbolic branches/arches  which a segmented hulls ( and not a nice polyhedron) - you can use KBS(help=1);  to make your own blocks  while KBS either make the knobs or the dents so for a brick you need to use a difference from the module with itself - it is more make other objects compatible with construction blocks -
<Jack21> however as you can set knob width (and femaleknob fKnob) you can adjust your blocks until they fit ( however is only one side is fitting it is more  likely that you have a little under or over extrusion

<Joel> Two different companies bring fiber to my house
<Joel> it's a no brainer
<Joel> I'm in the us, and not on a coast.
<teepee> take all the fibers!!!
<Joel> I pay $40/mo for 1gig up/down
<teepee> neat, I don't think that's available here
<teepee> supposedly I could get 200mbit, right now I have 61/12
<teepee> with a 50 contract :)

<johnstein> Jack21: yea I bet I have some slight extrusion issues. I haven't had to print anything to exacting precision yet so the default ender 3 settings (i.e. esteps) have been giving me decent results. there's some gaps on the top layers that make me think I'm probably slightly under-extruding.

<Jack21> do you have a caliper? so print a calibration cube und measure the outcome
<Jack21> also measure the filament - if there is inconsistency  this is bad, but also if the filament is 1.65 but your slicer calculates with 1.75
<Jack21> every 1/100 mm is about 1% flow change to adjust  (or put the right diameter into the slicer config)

<Guest10> Is this a credible option for OpenSCAD online?
<teepee> Guest10: cadhub.xyz supports OpenSCAD, it's a new platform just getting built, but it's possible to do some stuff online
