i have this impression that pinephone battery lasts much longer under maemo than pmos.
<sicelo>
it should be true
<inky>
i also noticed the maemo browser, but tapping in its address bar doesn't bring the keyboard, and that's the only way to trigger the keyboard on the pinephone, since volume keys are mapped to volume.
<inky>
isn't it gtk or qt?
<sicelo>
on N900, leste is idling at much less than pmos
<inky>
of supported versions.
<inky>
interesting. what is idling? that is not pmos suspend, right?
<inky>
if you get an xmpp message while idling, you get it right?
<dsc_>
maemo browser is Qt, still needs virtualkeyboard support
<sicelo>
leste does not use suspend :-P
<inky>
qt of different version i guess, which isn't maemofied.
<inky>
because gtk2 and gtk3 are.
<inky>
on pinephone maemo is hard because it is not very well suited to work without hwkbd.
<dsc_>
right
<dsc_>
I was discussing it with Wizzup recently
<dsc_>
soon^tm :P
<Wizzup>
I am planning to move various -devel stuff to stable, apart from sphone/tp-ring stuff, so please holler if anything on current -devel seems bad

Wizzup: i don't see anything wrong in -devel actually, at least with 6.1.76
<arno11>
on both N900 and Redmi proot
<arno11>
*compared to stable ofc
<arno11>
inky: you should have a look @what diejuse did with proot: onboard keyboard do the trick with devices with no keyboard
<arno11>
*does the trick

arno11: thank you! i know onboard, installed it, and it was fullscreen. i didn't search for diejuse customization, instead what i did is
<inky>
it has maemo customizations and it works amazingly well!!!
<arno11>
cool ! good to know
<inky>
there are binaries: coolkbd.top, coolkbd.bottom, coolkbd.dock

<inky>
if you build it from maemo directory's build.sh
<inky>
i only had to install libxtst1-dev, but i guess i had other deps because i built other stuff before.
<arno11>
ok

<inky>
Wizzup: yes, if you start the docking version, it forces the window to be smaller, so that all the fields in the window are visible.
<inky>
Wizzup: the most important thing is that nothing prevents us from adding functionality to type in _any_ window by using maemo keyboard. there's this function i mentioned several times, which is used in coolkbd, and svkbd, which adds the letter to the current layout.
<inky>
i would try to integrate it myself, but was discouraged.
<inky>
so today i need coolkbd, yes. i can type in any field. and it doesn't open a separate window to type, it just types in any input field, like it is on any other mobile linux.
