<wael[m]>
maybe deleted account and codeberg said its taken
<sad_plan>
yeah, I belive he said it was taken. no matter. using similar names is probably easier for everyone to recognize users anyway
<wael[m]>
says the one with a different name on irc and git
<sad_plan>
I have my reasons :p
<wael[m]>
what r they
<sad_plan>
compartmentelization
<wael[m]>
simple english plz
<sad_plan>
seperation
<sad_plan>
but things in different boxes
<wael[m]>
personal reasons?
<sad_plan>
not using same name everywhere makes you harder to track
<sad_plan>
its for privacy reasons mostly
<wael[m]>
well I'm fucked I suppose
<sad_plan>
although, one can probalby just follow the crumbs anyway, and still link alot of my stuff anyway, but no matter. atleast its not obvious at first glance anyway
<sad_plan>
lol, same name everywhere?
<wael[m]>
worse
<wael[m]>
real name everywhere
<sad_plan>
yeah.. I dont know what to say :p
<wael[m]>
same name I've used since 4 since I've never had a proper username
<sad_plan>
not everyone takes privacy as seriously though. not everyone has a state actor like threat model.
<wael[m]>
yeah I don't think of it as big of a deal as others
<wael[m]>
I just don't be stupid about my stuff ig
<sad_plan>
just make one. mine was automatically generated on a platform I used before, and I sortof just sticked with it here aswell.
<sad_plan>
most people dont even think about it at all. they just click agree to steal all their data
<testuser[m]>
no one can do anything with your first name
<wael[m]>
yay
<testuser[m]>
unless it's super uncommon
<wael[m]>
shit
<wael[m]>
everyone in my country uses usernames like ihnh or mitl 4 letter random generated
<sad_plan>
thats fine, as that cant initially be linked back to you. however, not using tor will still link to your ip, and can most likely be tracked back to something identifiable anyway..
<wael[m]>
testuser: LAMOOOOooo
<sad_plan>
lol
<testuser[m]>
no one is going after your ip
<testuser[m]>
Unless you're on some most wanted list
<wael[m]>
142.68.37.49
<sad_plan>
not initially, but its still one point that used in tracking. among alooooooot of other stuff ofcourse
<wael[m]>
like what
<testuser[m]>
I thought you're talking about other individuals trying to doxx you cuz no corporation gives a shit about a single person
<testuser[m]>
I mean google is not going after any one person specifically
<testuser[m]>
They work with aggregated data
<wael[m]>
interesting
<wael[m]>
so all this privacy stuff has no purpose?
<testuser[m]>
It does, in case of a data breach
<testuser[m]>
If data breach then other individuals can go after you
<testuser[m]>
Also it might be used against you in the future
<testuser[m]>
Eg to deny insurance
<wael[m]>
I tried looking for my own data in data breaches sometimes
<testuser[m]>
Me personally I just hate all companies equally and I don't like the idea of them collecting much more than what's required so
<wael[m]>
personally I'm very lost in privacy stuff, all I know is google bad lol
<sad_plan>
more or less all of big tech is bad. look at privacyguides.org i.e. for some ideas, look at the hated one on youtube. he has alot of nice videos on alot of these subjects. if youre interested anyway
<testuser[m]>
All tech is bad not just big tech
<sad_plan>
techlore also has some good material imo. or just read up on reddit, or r/privacy i.e
<testuser[m]>
Big tech just has more power than small tech
<testuser[m]>
Everything is garbage
<wael[m]>
aaaaaaaa
<sad_plan>
I suppose youre right
<testuser[m]>
ioraff: b3sum should have sha256 checksums
<testuser[m]>
wait no
<testuser[m]>
bruh
<testuser[m]>
hmmmmmmmmmm
<testuser[m]>
what about temporarily bundling b3 into kiss?
<testuser[m]>
no
<testuser[m]>
u cant kiss b kiss again after b3 change
<testuser[m]>
but we dont want to keep around old sha256 cuz then no one will update checksums
<wael[m]>
how about just sticking to kiss 'checksums don't match'
<wael[m]>
and just switching big tims
<phoebos>
could write a news post telling everyone to install b3sum before updating kiss
<sad_plan>
cant you just add b3sum as a dep, thus forcing everyone to install it?
<testuser[m]>
but then u cant rebuild b3sum
<phoebos>
btw, I opened an issue on shithub so that I could ping camille
<testuser[m]>
Mesa 9.0 Gets A Release Date That's Very Soon
<sad_plan>
what does dylans commits and mesa has to do with eachother? and mesa is on v22. wym 9.0?
fitrh has joined #kisslinux
fitrh has quit [Quit: fitrh]
<wael[m]>
Yes
<wael[m]>
btw sad_plan: do you have a primary nickname people can call you by?
<sad_plan>
wouldnt it be confusing if you refered to me by a different name than what is being used on said platform?
<sad_plan>
why does kiss put files in the manifest file that does not exist? Im messing with slapping kiss on top of oasis, and earlier when I tried to build kiss, it error out on installing, telling me manifest contains a non-existant file
