<acheam> noocsharp: the neatroff eqn implementation actually shares some stuff with tex
<acheam> Its worth looking into
<acheam> Roff is just as powerful in being able to express things
<acheam> Its just a bit uglier by default

<GalaxyNova> What are some common reasons why packages fail to build in kiss but can build fine outside a package
<GalaxyNova> I've tried unsetting DESTDIR, but it doesn't seem to make a difference
<testuser[m]> What type of failure
<testuser[m]> Why would destdir cause a build fail, it only affects installation
<GalaxyNova> I was thinking destdir could be causing a build fail because the program building might be installing some stuff in special directories and messing it up somehow
<testuser[m]> Show log.txt
<GalaxyNova> I'm on a wyverkiss system but should not make a difference?
<GalaxyNova> it still builds fine when i clone it off git and run the commands manually just not as a package
<GalaxyNova> here's the build file
<testuser[m]> How do you clone as normal, compared to kiss build ? Maybe it needs submodules ?
<GalaxyNova> just git clone
<GalaxyNova> I'll try cloning it again and trying
<GalaxyNova> the program I'm trying to package is limine
<testuser[m]> what if you temporarily do cd /home/user/limine_git_repo and build there to rule out the problem being due to difference in cloning
<testuser[m]> in the kiss build , remove the git source
<GalaxyNova> still fails
<GalaxyNova> I think it might be a problem with their build system exiting with status 1 for some reason
<GalaxyNova> or it might be the way I'm trying to build limine idk
<GalaxyNova> I'm running the commands from their readme
<testuser[m]> *** No rule to make target '/root/.cache/kiss/proc/364738/build/limine/bin/limine-hdd.bin'
<testuser[m]> i think it should be `make bin/limine-hdd.bin` cuz make wont have a target for a full path that varies on each system
<testuser[m]> nah
<testuser[m]> does it give the same make error when you build as regular ?
<testuser[m]> cuz if it does then it didnt build properly
<GalaxyNova> oh god you're right
<GalaxyNova> damn I'm blind

<claudia02> another project based on KISS https://github.com/f1nniboy/slash
<claudia02> Here is the repo: https://github.com/f1nniboy/slash-repo
<travankor> too bad it's not compatible with kiss :\
<travankor> the only feature i want from a kiss fork is cross-compilation support
<acheam> > no static libraries
<acheam> questionable choice
<acheam> also no alternatives system or checksums?
<acheam> no dylan in license file :(
<acheam> although he is mentioned in the README, so not intentionally stolen or anything
<travankor> because muh mIniMalisM
<travankor> licenses are bloat :p
<travankor> as are checksums :p
<acheam> they did remove the sha256sum dependency :)
<travankor> woo
<acheam> what if we used this on kiss? Is 10min long checksums worth it?
<travankor> barring the horrendous inefficiency, that's incredible
<acheam> hmm its not pure posix
<acheam> it uses string indexing
<acheam> (which is an easy fix)
<acheam> it also cops out and uses bc for most of it
<travankor> it's not in the git history but it says there was an older version without bc
<acheam> oh
