<clime> Hello, does anyone know if mp4 format contains PCR(-like) information?
jagannatharjun has joined #ffmpeg
<galad> in mp4 you either have a complete index with all the timing info at the begin or end, or a fragmented index with the timing info for a specific segmented in fragmented files
<JEEB> PCR is separate from DTS/PTS (CTS)
<JEEB> "global program time line", I guess?
<JEEB> probably was more useful when you had to generate analog signal out of the input
<JEEB> since you could follow PCR to make sure that you should have all required data and have an overall clock
<JEEB> clime: what's the use case just to know?
<galad> yup, but there isn't such thing in mp4 from what I know
<JEEB> yea, I think the closest is that RTP hint track thing?

<clime> so I can't transfer clock by using mp4, right? If I understand correctly that would be a reason why mp4 can't really be used for live streams? (or is it used?)
<clime> JEEB: I have encountered bug with incorrectly generated PCR (containing lots of jitter/discontinuities) and the command that produces the bug involves ffmpeg that takes mp4 on input as well as tsduck (tsp) that produces the final MPEG-TS stream so I was trying to figure out where exactly the clock information originates...
<clime> here the RTP hint tracks are mentioned (https://superuser.com/questions/357686/where-is-synchronization-information-stored-in-container-formats) as a way to allow streaming
<BtbN> dts/pts are plenty to stream normally

<clime> BtbN: that sounds a bit controversial.
<BtbN> The only context I ever heard of PCR is in physical over the air broadcast stuff
<BtbN> Pretty much all online livestreaming is happily working with attaching timestamps to packages
<JEEB> PCR is required for MPEG-TS since it's the overall clock of the mux
<JEEB> while MP4 does not require it since there's only a per-track time line (with possibly fragments marking where a specific range is finished)

<manwithluck> I want to make self playing speaker for my mum, I have playlist of her favorite cds, but they are of different volume
<manwithluck> is there any simple way to make it the same volume?
<manwithluck> like two tracks are medidation speak, it says LUFS -22.7
<manwithluck> but they are loud, but not like music
<manwithluck> then it's taylor swift with LUFS -9.1
<manwithluck> then original cd of enya from 1986 with LUFS -19.2
<manwithluck> then zen relaxation with LUFS -14.1

<MarioMey> Hello, there. Is there any way to use ffmpeg as pixel-change detector? For example: it takes a video and create a new one where the pixels that change are white and the one that doesn't, black. In this way, the result is some kind of b/w video that can be used to mask the original. For example, a person that has a background and we got some kind of key-chroma.
