<jaeger> uploading some llvm packages to https://crux.ninja/tmp/ if anyone wants them to save some time
<remiliascarlet> I feel like LLVM languages are the new Javascript frameworks, considering how many new ones get crancked out every single year.
<remiliascarlet> Eventually, the free market will decide what to use, and the vast majority of them will end up dying.
<remiliascarlet> I've recently been more a supporter of using languages like C, C++, PHP, and even Java, because those have been around for long, used for a long time, and there's lots of legacy code written in it, meaning that it's very easy to get jobs in these languages now that legacy systems are starting to crumble apart.
<remiliascarlet> All while the modern language devs face fierce competition.

<Guest30> hi guys, I need to make: /sbin/modprobe snd_mixer_oss
<Guest30> permanent. Any idea where to put it in /etc. I saw dir /etc/modprobe.d
<Guest30> shall I make a .conf file and throw it there ?
<SiFuh> Guest30: yep
<Guest30> hi SiFuh long time no see :-)
<Guest30> Many thanks man.
<SiFuh> Create an excutable file /etc/rc.modules
<SiFuh> Insert whatever you want there
<Guest30> this is ready.... its there.
<SiFuh> Yeah it is a script
<Guest30> the executable is ready from crux installation.
<Guest30> let me try it  and I will be back
<Guest30> oooo
<SiFuh> Ignore the row numbers
<SiFuh> You can do what you want. It is just a script
<Guest30> ok
<Guest30> brb

<Guest30> ok SiFuh done. First I created a file in /etc/modprobe.d but didnt work.
<Guest30> Then I entered the command at the executable rc.modules.
<jaeger> rc.modules is indeed the place for that
<Guest30> jaeger i did not know man... that is the reason that iam asking.
<jaeger> Yeah, just providing confirmation :)
<Guest30> one more question I think is time for me to get read of grub and use EFI stub
<Guest30> everything is crystal clear in the handbook but doesnot mention to copy the System.map file.
<Guest30> I dont need this file with kernel efi stub?
<jaeger> As far as I know it's not strictly required
<Guest30> cool
<jaeger> For clarification, it's a table of symbols used by the kernel and is often expected to be location in /boot/System.map-$(uname -r) ... but it's not required for the boot loader
<Guest30> cool.
<Guest30> u know why I was in a need  to enable snd_mixer_oss
<Guest30> to get info for a status bar slstatus. All the brilliant huckers in suckless write patches and reinvent the wheel lol
<jaeger> Of course, heh
<Guest30> snd_mixer_oss gives me the /dev/mixer file. Since udev ≥ 171, the OSS emulation modules (snd_seq_oss, snd_pcm_oss, snd_mixer_oss) are not loaded by default
