char: Thanks, _death actually gave a good answer explaining why (setf (symbol-function 'curried) …) results in a STYLE-WARNING on SBCL and how to fix it by separating definition (i.e. the setf) from usage by putting the setf-definition into a separate file. I eventually discovered the serapeum package myself some time later, and realized that the serapeum:defalias is just a fancy wrapper for the setf-fdefinition thing that deals

Does anybody know if there is an stream-external-format normalization library? So you don't have to know about the variations among CL implementations?

yitzi: there's "Trivial UTF-8" for reading and writing UTF-8 files on various implementations and there is "Babel" for dealing with various character encodings.

Thanks, but I'm not talking about doing the encoding. I'm talking about the variations in the values and formatting of the stream-external-format slot.
