arnd: I mimicked this after the Tegra fuse driver, which is also an soc driver
<geertu>
The in-kernel user would be its main user. The nvmem interface exists just because the tegra driver did the same.
<geertu>
So you want us to use Documentation/devicetree/bindings/nvmem/nvmem-consumer.yaml isntead, and do it like e.g. Documentation/devicetree/bindings/nvmem/sprd-efuse.txt?

As this is also part of the pinctrl PR, we better resolve this soon.

Geertu: if I need to drop some patches mail me, I guess I can rebase and pull out all/some rensas stuff if necessary
<linusw__>
Otoh it's just the Rensas pull in there so far
<arnd>
geertu: yes, I think the tegra fuse driver was a mistake, iirc this was before we had the nvmem subsystem. I would suggest asking srini for advice here as the nvmem maintainer, not sure if he's on IRC

geertu: are there patches in your dt branch that don't depend on the nvmem driver? I could merge those first until we have found a solution for the nvmem side

arnd: absolutely agreed that this is completely abusing a lot of things, and this code has no purpose fiddling with the GIC internals as it does.
<maz>
also, there is no "remote processor", since this is an SGI. most likely something from the secure side.
<maz>
the patch only helps with preventing smp_processor_id() being used in the wrong context, so it's not any worse.
<maz>
note to self: break this at the earliest opportunity.
