<Armbian-Discord> <bret> OK, here's a potentially very dumb question but all feedback and responses are greatly welcomed as I'm asking genuinely 😄
<Armbian-Discord> <bret> What makes it such a struggle to create and support the images for all of these boards? I was going to try and expand on that with some questions but I guess I'll just leave it at that.. What is missing from manufacturers to make everything much easier on the community?
Manouchehri has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<Armbian-Discord> <bret> I know it's a very broad question and manufacturers could hire their own software people to make it infinitely easier on the community heh but I'm curious about what the "fight" is actually against to support these things

<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Well in general there are no dumb question. Dumb answers only 😄
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Anyway manufacturer side provided bsp code is usually of poor quality, badly documented or hidden in binary firmware blobs. All of those makes it very difficult to create proper support. You can get a bit more detail in our documentation's FAQ.

<Armbian-Discord> <bret> Trying to see how scorched Earth I want to go at certain manufacturers for their complete lack of interest in actually supporting their boards 😅 needing to gauge a bit more of the general sentiment and actual technical issues first..
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Once marketing no longer generates sales things will improve. Until then people get fooled and nobody cares...
<archetech> you think they dont know they are derilict in their support cmon
<archetech> support takes away profit
<archetech> plus chumps like armbian will do it ;p
<archetech> why I buy odroid
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> I included a quick explanation how that system of board support works in the video I made about myself a while ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei11X9OIwvE
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Just dont remember the timestamp 😅
<archetech> my n2+ has had zero issues
<Armbian-Discord> <bret> I fancy trying the new N2L but I'd want to know when EU distributors are going to get it and how much of a markup there'll be for that
<Armbian-Discord> <bret> Thanks! I'll take a look through.
<archetech> thats a nice board but id get an n2+ $70 vs $85 US
<blathijs> Is the source for the webpage on github somewhere? I want to submit some improvements to this page: https://www.armbian.com/rockpi-s/
<ArmbianHelper> ^ Rockpi S – Armbian
<archetech> Werner ^
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> I don't think so. I suggest to open a topic in forums so somebody with access can implement the improvements
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> (I don't have)

<blathijs> Ok, thanks!
<blathijs> Any suggestion on a forum category to post this under? All the way down in Rock Pi S categor, or Feature Requests, or somewhere else?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> if there is a small thing, just post it here and i will fix it
<ArmbianHelper> ^ Updated images for Rockpi S - ROCK Pi S - Armbian Community Forums
<blathijs> IgorPec: There's two things: 1) The photo of the UART output seems mirrored (the colored header is on the wrong side - if you mirror the image it matches and I've also confirmed that the UART pinout is then correct). 2) The page could list the UART settings (1500000bps 8N1)
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> this is best that you add to that topic and let brentr handls it. he made that picture
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Mine didn't either till it took a lightning hit lol..
<archetech> GET OVER THAT!
<archetech> its electonic chit happens
<archetech> next one put behind a UPS and power strip it
<archetech> learn dude
<archetech> I warned a cust once they nah no ups for us we be fine bam lightning hit em weeks later
<archetech> can you come out and put a ups and pstrips in sure lol
<archetech> think we need some new pc's too
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> It was a joke goodness
<archetech> lightning is a joke to you eh
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> No... me caring
<archetech> oh ya got more $ than sense then
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> I have so many machines that I have to work on it it is bound to happen
<archetech> love those type of customers
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> no.. that is just rude.
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> btw.. if you were a vendor like that you wouldn't be in busienss long.
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> I don't take kindly to comments like that.
<archetech> why cuz I give good tech advice and peeps dont listen? right
<archetech> pay me now or pay me later x5 all good to me
<archetech> ive never lost a device to power outage why cuz I spend to protect vs gamble
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Hard to do when I was out of town and it was cycling power hits... the other 11 devices on that circuit (including a N2) survived fine
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> it just blew out the USB
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> on the N2+
<archetech> the pulse got to the device it didnt have to

<Armbian-Discord> <ManoftheSea> As opposed to bad boards that are an accident waiting to happen?
<Armbian-Discord> <ManoftheSea> Any of these good boards running an arm chip with modern kernel support and also similar price/performance as amd64?
<Armbian-Discord> <ManoftheSea> Well, I also want a pony.
