<coder1337> of course it is, but i like they don't have intel management engine and other bloat like this (at least i don't know of it). after some tweaking, i could run three docker containers, my ide and web application. all that on a luks encrypted root partition. so yes, it's slower than most x86 cpus, but still usable for most normal tasks if you don't mind having a somewhat lower performance. $200 is the price of a middle
<Armbian-Discord>
class smartphone - and those don't have 16gb ram. so i think the pricing is appropriate.

@coder1337 *makes psychic paws* missed the first half but i bet you're talking about daily driving raspis or some other SBC
<k_fox>
to wit: i discovered a raspi 4 drives two 4k displays just fucking dandy if you're not a 3d gamer a few years ago
<k_fox>
been collecting all the 8 core android tv boxes people have been throwing at value village and they've been selling for $10
<k_fox>
i have like 20 now
<k_fox>
what do i need qubes for i can run a single application on each one XD

<Tonymac32> The price compared to a mid-grade cellphone, if you remove the price of the screen and battery, is still pretty bad, IMHO Rockchip is gouging for that SoC, otherwise we should be seeing more affordable devices. The Rock5B is downright affordable compared to a Khadas Edge2 with no real I/O, or the firefly ROC-RK3588S-PC <-- lol at Firefly continuing to use Libre Computers naming scheme, but getting it wrong.
<Armbian-Discord>
Amazing.
<archetech>
w/o the 50 discount I wouldnt have bought mine 8GB model

<NicoD> @Igor. What time is the meeting? I can't remember if it was 16pm or 19pm. Can't find it back on the thread.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> don't know, heaven't hear it from @TheBug yet.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> yesterday i was to tired due to travel. how many people showed up?
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> About 6 or 7.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> great! well see how many people shows up, otherwise we can set this for mid week as well
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> i am busy later in the evening
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> Ok for me.
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> Just let me know when.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> sure
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> @IgorPec I hear you on travel.. I didn't get home until 1AM.. about to leave again.. won't be again until at least that again tonight
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> Cheers all. time to run across state again.. be back tomorrow
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> I also tested the Station P1 yesterday with all available images from downloadpage and from balbes. All the 5.18/.19 and 6.xx didn't have hw acc video playback. But the playback was a lot better than the OPi800. I'm surprised by that. P1 can do 1080p youtube playback. Not perfect, some screen tearing. But it doesn't reload constantly and it plays. While OPi800 can't do 1080p YT with either chromium or firefox. It
<Armbian-Discord>
constantly reloads and isn't watchable. I can't understand why there is a difference here. Both are not hw acc video playback. Both RK3399, both balbes images. But still a huge difference. Also tried the old legacy buster image and installed media-buster-legacy-RK3399. This isn't functional anymore. Chromium is broken. But it still can play 4K h264 video files. Something even Manjaro can't do(1440p max) Legacy isn't useful
<Armbian-Discord>
anymore.
<stipa>
do they work at the same clock?
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> same cpu clock.
<stipa>
the Station P1 could have some kind of throttling
<stipa>
but, it definitely has better cooling if the cpu is in contact with the chasis
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> What do you mean? It's in a metal case, never overheats. So no throttling.
<stipa>
if there's a governor for the CPU try to put on both boards on max frequency/performance

all the time
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> both have ondemand. But I can try performance.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> don't know but those things has to be sorted out ... legacy for 3399 is not needed the moment video accl is alright. i though we have this sorted out as media support is in for awhile, but useland player needs to be compiled with support AFAIK
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> I hope it can be fixed. It is this that made me stop using the RK3399 daily. Odroid N2+ then does it better with cpu only. But I've got to admit I'm using Manjaro every night because it plays so smooth. For good desktop experience this is a must.
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> @stipa I tried with performance governor op OPI800 and it's just the same. Takes very long to load, and doesn't play. Always loading...

<IgorPec> did you try kinetic builds perhaps?
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> those have latest userland packages
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> No haven't seen any. I'm unable to build from balbes branche.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> ah.. those branch mess has to be sorted out 1st
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> without is already difficult enough to debug

<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> I'll try with another desktop then.
<Armbian-Discord>
<NicoD> building kinetic cinnamon. Not sure if it's the buster or the xfce that failed.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> it could be that this package crc detection doesn't work properly. the package in questions seems to be failed and its not armbian fault
<Armbian-Discord>
<RichN> wow librecad is nice
<Armbian-Discord>
<RichN> I habe spent the day putting my t4 backonline
<Armbian-Discord>
<RichN> and I like some of what was done with cinnamon but I think more in the future
<Armbian-Discord>
<RichN> who ever is doing desktops now

<marcone> why does https://github.com/armbian/build/releases have images for the Radxa Zero 2, which isn't actually available for sale, but not for the Radxa Zero?
