<Neoon> Hey, any chance getting Orange-PI 2/3 IOT working? I don't care about the 2/3g modem, just want it to work.
<TRS-80> patches welcome
<lanefu> Neoon: yeah biggest problem is that thign uses kind of a fringe SoC that none of hte other popular boards use
<lanefu> so armbian doesn't have a kernel config or patches.. or uboot configs for it
argonautx has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Sorry neoon, I had a couple of these and they were useless

<Neoon> well
<Neoon> I never got the 2g IOT to boot anyway
<Neoon> the money I wasted on Orange PI's and then the software goes EOL
<Neoon> garbage
<Neoon> its just said right now, the PI is out of stock and expensive
<Neoon> could have used that board
<Neoon> prob the best I could run on this would be Debian 9 if its boots
<Neoon> but thats eol
<Neoon> so
<retrosenator> what a bout radxa
<retrosenator> rock 3 rock 5 rock Pi N rock S
<retrosenator> ?

<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> That was my experience on the 2g IOT as well neoon
<retrosenator> a lot of orange pi are hard to get
<retrosenator> my thought is the ones with emmc would boot faster so it doesnt matter if they crash a lot
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> The Libre Computer Le Potato is a good board for simple stuff, as are the Tritium boards if you don't need a lot of power
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> Haha I guess that's one way to look at it retrosenator
<Armbian-Discord> <Tonymac32> As long as the application doesn't mind 😆

<stipa> M1 and M2 heat up to 100 C, that's like for frying eggs

<stipa> somehow it doesn't coincide with "The 2020 M1-equipped Mac Mini draws 7 watts when idle and 39 watts at maximum load"
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> I can concur I've sen those temps
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> on my M1
<stipa> can you lower down the cpu freq ?
<stipa> does it help?
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> I quickly slow it down
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> yes
<stipa> at least something
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> It just so powerful it tries to really throw the sink of power at it
<stipa> it's trying to impress
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> Yeah.. fortunately I also feel more confident in their parts than most
<stipa> just internet browsing nowadays suck too much resources
<stipa> rarely any laptop has a good design
<stipa> you never know with new parts that hit the market what you'll get
<stipa> they last like year or two and new come out, there's no time to test the parts
<stipa> but it's mostly physical faults like display hinges
<stipa> and charging ports
<stipa> maybe M3 will be better, who knows
