<Tonymac32> that's funny, for me to go to my mother in laws house is like driving from Paris to Berlin
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> so this is nothing. It takes me that long to get out of my state

^ General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) — The Linux Kernel documentation
<Armbian-Discord>
<q4a> This sounds very bureaucratic. I don't understand anything about GPIO and asked what I could be wrong about it, and you sent me to read and understand the documentation for the Linux kernel. Thanks, but you didn't help at all.

<Werner> Armbian follows mainline kernel so it uses its the standard implementation as mentioned. Maybe Tinker made up their own driver? Maybe implementation changed between 4.4.y and 5.15.y? Hard to tell and if nobody here knows that off the cuff research is needed which we cannot do for you. Maybe PWM functionality needs additional overlay. No idea if @Tonymac32 ever played with GPIO on TB

<IgorPec> if you want to understand this, you need to read documentation
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> there is no other way
<Armbian-Discord>
<q4a> I just want to have simple script that turn on/turn off my fan. I think, that I can use it if you use it (UART2 (pin 32, 33, 34=gnd) - taken from https://www.armbian.com/tinkerboard/ and some guides use it for fan control: https://raspmer.blogspot.com/2019/02/control-cooling-fan-with-gpio-fan.html I don't need full understanding of gpio or full gpio support for tinkerboard. If pin 32 broken/did not work in armbian, used
<Armbian-Discord>
only for debugging or anything else - then may be other pin can be used?

<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> Well. I don't know the answer.
<Armbian-Discord>
<q4a> That's ok. I did not ask specifically you. But if somebody know - that would be good.
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> most of people that i know would need to do a research. If you expect that, forget about as nobody will be wasting hours or weeks to deal with this. This is the fundamental problem. You will need to invest into research, read forums, docs ... counting to find a person that can answer out of the head = extreme luck
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> yes, even for this "small question" . this is what developers do every day ...

<Tonymac32> I never used PWM on this board. I know it isn't set up by default and would require an overlay.
<Armbian-Discord>
<q4a> Ok, thanks. Do you know, how to understand which pin corresponds to which file gpiochip0, gpiochip24, gpiochip56.. in /sys/class/gpio on rk3288?
