How to get into edit mode in vim? I cannot even compose a text message otherwise! lol
<Mangix>
TRS-80: i or a
<Mangix>
on that note, vim is quite usable on a mobile phone compared to nano
<TRS-80>
Mangix: you are a life saver mate, I guess it's time for me to learn it finally!@

OK I figured out how to exit insert mode (ESC) how to send this text now. In Emacs I know it would be something like C-x # to return to calling process. I vaguely recall reading zz something maybe?
<TRS-80>
aha ZZ seems to have done it

<ManoftheSea> Or :wq
<sunshavi>
trs-80: use evil-mode
<TRS-80>
sunshavi: No, SXMO uses actual Vim for everything, including composing SMS! I need to install Emacs (and get my physical keyboard)!
<TRS-80>
but The Missus calling me to bed, more playing around with this tomorrow. Cheers!

<bret> Guess it's time for me to learn to build an image myself properly (finally), seeing as this MangoPi board that's arrived has nothing available for it yet despite saying they would 😄
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> remember this is just a tool. if they are providing terrible linux, then this ain't just work well.
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> Indeed, initial impressions from the packaging and the lack of colour coded headers (which were a selling point in their listing) isn't great

<Tonymac32> mango board?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> color coded headers are a little expensive
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> I lied, it did come with colour coded headers
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> MangoPi MQ Pro is what arrived today anyway, trying to find the right bits to build an image for it. They said it would have Tina Linux, Debian and something else available on launch but there's nothing ready to go. Random Chinese pages/forums here I come
<[TheBug]>
mmm what SoC is that?
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> It's a joyous Allwinner D1 C906 RISC-V
<[TheBug]>
ahh how fast are the cores on that
<[TheBug]>
arn't those like back to the A10/A20 days in speed comparability?
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> This is a single 1GHz core, it's no speed machine but I thought fuck it
<[TheBug]>
yeah so its basically an 'free' A10
<[TheBug]>
least they give you a deecent SPI on it
<[TheBug]>
could probably even load buildroot in the SPI
<[TheBug]>
I assume that gigabit nic will be limited to 40M/sec also?
<[TheBug]>
interesting.
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> Hm, think we're looking at different things, there's no gigabit NIC on here
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> Not entirely sure. I'll put some content together with it and figure that out later
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> I need to stop being dumb dumb and figure out how to build an image for it first, I've messaged the seller/creator to see if they've actually prepared anything yet. It was announced in January, released on AliEx about a month ago and arrived with me today. I snagged one of the few 1GB RAM models
<[TheBug]>
yeah be ready for a garbage SDK probably lol
<Armbian-Discord>
<bret> Allwinner seem to have it available themselves and someone has the overlays for this particular board on github but that feels like a tomorrow job at this point
