<p00f1>

<p00f1>

<Nosrep>

just accepted that the tray is a bad UI trend and abandoned it completely
<p00f1>
okay but nm-applet's indicator is very useful and there is nothing to replace it
<p00f1>
(i don't like tray either, it jams together many different-looking icons)

p00f1: you could also mess with waybar (exclusive==false and transparent background), though that most likely means complications with mouse input
<leon-p>
hmm, I lost the use for a network status indicator with iwd. It's just too reliable, I just alway have a stable connection. And its cli tool is perfectly usable for connecting to networks
<tiosgz>
so you may have to mess with its margin and/or patch either of the two to have a smaller input area, bleh

linkert1 is now known as linkert

or, thinking of it, maybe patching it not to set so many anchors could work. whatevs. tis hacky anyway

if DIY solutions are allowed, iwd, NetworkManager and perhaps also wpa_supplicant have IPC mechanisms you can hook into
<leon-p>
or just querry the /sys/ interfaces if you are only interested in the connection status
<p00f1>
leon-p: it's not about the network indicator itself, its right-click menu lets you connect to vpns
<p00f1>
and to your phone's hotspot when ethernet dies
<p00f1>

I launch river and get that blue/gray screen, see my mouse, but keyboard input isn't being picked up. I have a $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/river/init executable script with the defaults and Super+Shift E won't exit, for example. Any idea what's up?

weren't you the one running river in a VM?
