Apparently my Risc-V 32 tool chain build with newlib is failing because it wants a version of libiberty built with -fPIE. So I guess I should go find that. And give it what it wants ?

So over the course of today I have been trying to build a riscv-gnu-toolchain with newlib and at first I thought it was looking for a library somewhere under ubuntu that it did not like. But this did not really make sense. Actually the problem it is having is actually under build-gcc-newlib-stage1/build-x86_64-pc-linux-gnu. It is the libiberty and

I have spent most of today trying to convince it to take an -fPIE argument on the CFLAGS. Every time I do a build the config.status is over written and it undoes my changes. Is the build copying those config.status files from somewhere else? ... TLDR DERP:)
