so here is my new view and I want feed back
<rneese>
I am going to make a base img and on first run it will ask you to select and install the desktop you want.
<rneese>
as its to the point building full desktop imgs is bloated .
<rneese>
I think minimal desktops and leave it to the used to install anything else

<rneese>
I will start a list of basic minimal desktops and add them to the script. this does mean that you will have to have the device connectet to the internet.
<rneese>
on first run where I know alot using armbian style installs and the full imgs for the starfive get a right off exper. but the imgs are way to big
<valerius>
base img of what distro?
<valerius>
I like your idea of keeping it minimal either way

WE ARE DEBIAN BASED
<rneese>
the builder I am working on is debian based
<rneese>
but I am reworking it to allw the user to select to install a desktop or to use a cli img
<psydroid>
ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US
<psydroid>
AND TO DEBIAN
<rneese>
so you dl a cli img then when you first boot it ask you to set a root passwd . then it will ask you to select a desktop to install . then it will ask you to set a user and user passwd
<rneese>
lol
<rneese>
psy I hit caps lock sorry
<rneese>
then it will autolog you into the desktop for the first time
<rneese>
and from then on out its the basic boot to desktop on each reboot
<psydroid>
lol
<rneese>
this will take a week or 2 to write the menu code and enable it but its how i think we give control back to users
<rneese>
but I kind do want to theme the desktop for riscv but thats if you guys want it
