<buZz>
sadly, the workshop didnt really happen, there was just a single person that showed up, i ended up just helping him design a guitar plectrum
<buZz>
he did seem to love seeing how it works , and i made the design 'too complex' to help him see most stuff in a single sourcefile
<buZz>
and handed him a printed openscad cheatsheet

i a just wondering, which plastic fits best to the needs of a guitar plectrum. it needs to withstand tremendous mechanical forces, repeatedly

<guso78k>
suppose best match would be a metal printer, which can do stainless steel :)
<buZz>
guso78k: did you know, you can do stainless on many fdm printers with BASF UltraFuse filament
<guso78k>
nope, can you send me a link ?
<buZz>
its expensive, but includes a 'envelope' to send your print to BASF, who then sinter and finish the print, and gets returned to you as massive metal
<guso78k>
ahh, the printer just " glues" the thing together and basf will cure it at high temperature ?
<buZz>
wow its 80% steel :D
<buZz>
yeah, they burn away the 20% whatever-polymer , and add the missing material
<buZz>
there's some shrinkage afaik, depending on design
<guso78k>
interesting idea. maybe i should try the method with my microwave kiln, which can also reach 1000 deg plus
<buZz>
BASF has awesome documentation usually so i expect they give a percentage per axis with high precision
<buZz>
guso78k: oh 'last PLA casting' ?
<guso78k>
yeah, do do perform lost pla casting with transparent pla.
<buZz>
18:28:26 < buZz> lost pla?
<buZz>
18:28:27 < gthx> lost pla is print master, a few percent larger, cast in plaster with sand with vents and sprue, put in kiln to burn out PLA, with mold
<guso78k>
and i use a mixture of green-send and sodium-silcate for the mold. it works great!
<buZz>
yeah i never tried, it does look do-able
<guso78k>
my last project was "Nikola Tesla" made from copper
<buZz>
as earthing for a tesla coil?
<guso78k>
nope, its just a nice bust
<buZz>
hmm, or hoodornament on one of those deathtrap EVs :P

<guso78k>
i got some very old "copper" filament somewhere which is probably very dusty already. its a mixture of pla and copper powder. maybe i can try the sinter method from there
