Guest9 (if you're still around): Last I looked into this I ran into the issue that Apple doesn't issue certificates to domains, only registered companies or individuals. I had hoped we'd be able to sign as "openscad.org" or similar. That would have some value.
<kintel>
Signing as an (arbitrary from the point of view of software users) feels like jumping through some arbitrary hoop : /
<kintel>
..but it may end up being better (for users) than nothing, due to the annoying workarounds
<Guest9>
Ah yes, you'd need to have some sort of official entity like an LLC or something like that
<Guest9>
After the xv exploit I feel like signing releases is a really good idea

<Guest9>
Let me ask my friend in developer relations if there is an easy way to get an "entity"
<kintel>
That would be awesome. I don't think paying for an LLC is in the cards right now
<kintel>
right now, anyone could sign binaries without it raising a flag though, so the security is really about someone being willing to pay $100 to fake a binary, or steal a cert
<kintel>
..but great for security minded people who can go and verify the binary (but we can already do that using gpg stuff)
<kintel>
Anyway, the value here is to allow people to use OpenSCAD without learning the Ctrl-Click->Open trick

It looks like with enough sway apple are a little compliant https://infra.apache.org/apple-dev-program.html obviously we aren't Apache, I wonder if fsf or similar might have something

this means nothing with their license restricting running macos on apple hardware only
<teepee>
also with a proven track record of not even accepting sensible restriction forced on them, I can't bring myself to care much
<teepee>
like the EU ruling against apple which they then apply only to EU devices

this is true, although there are now m1 based runners available on github CI, all shallow comfort. It's just a shame users get it by the crossfire

i am just wondering, if there are (cheap) apple workstations available, which neither have keyboard nor display, just M1`CPU's inside ...
<teepee>
I tend to use captive nuts lately, going away from "fully" printed slightly
<guso78k>
teepee, when i use manifold from dec 2023 with MXE, I dont have this issue: https://imgur.com/a/smgQ9Is
<guso78k>
any recent software/configuration, which I missed ?
<teepee>
not sure, maybe glm needs an update
<guso78k>
teepee,. i have PACKAGES='qtbase qtmultimedia qscintilla2 mpfr eigen opencsg cgal ninja nsis glib libxml2 freetype fontconfig harfbuzz libzip lib3mf double-conversion zip cryptopp intel-tbb nettle glm' in my ./scripts/mingw-x-build-dependencies.sh
<guso78k>
is there a way to "refresh/redo"?
<teepee>
refresh is basically checkout of the latest MXE master branch
<teepee>
but you could check first if glm changed
<guso78k>
if that's not part of release_common.sh script, what would i type(i have no clue from nothing, whats happening behind the scenes)
<guso78k>
i have deleted the glm..source.gz file, now it recompiles
