So, it was my fault only I loaded the column data row by row in the matrix of same dimensions (31 x 136) and transposed the wrongly filled matrix. So all good with mlpack side.

especially with examples, by some perspective they're the most important thing in the entire library, since it's the most likely point of interaction for a new user, so it makes sense to put a lot of time into them

early on, I didn't realize the power of examples (in retrospect it seems pretty obvious), and instead I typically wrote complete documentation, with the thought that a user would read the entire documentation before ever even trying to use the library

I did that years ago when I learned Tcl... I read the entire manual over the course of 3 or 4 days, then wrote my first Tcl program

it was a really effective way to learn! but... it turns out... basically nobody has the time to do anything like that :)

'verbose' mode was fine. Yeah I agree having more informational content in the examples is definitely a great idea.

scikit was the first machine learning library I ever saw that focused entirely on easy, copy-pasteable, comprehensible usage examples

I don't think that's the *only* reason for their success but I do think that is a *big* part of it

Yeah I think people who are really interested in the nitty, gritty, details of how the implementation or features of a library work will read the documentation.

if it makes you feel better about C++, at my company we are having the exact same problems with Julia

Julia code uses LLVM as a backend, and one of the huge problems we are encountering with our database system is that the compilation time of our Julia code in LLVM is *huge*
