<midfavila> ugggh
<midfavila> i keep sitting here tearing myself apart over whether i should save up for a reform or not
<midfavila> on the one hand, really good hardware
<midfavila> on the other hand, it doesn't have fucking sata
<midfavila> that it forces me to use M.2 is just
<midfavila> fhdijoshfiasduorqwenreriegfr8ofc
<tprepper> hey, I tried to run kiss U, but it tells me su: bad salt when I enter my user's password... am I not supposed to create a user?
<tprepper> (while installing)
<tprepper> yeah I should've installed as root...
<Ellowee[m]> <tprepper> "hey, I tried to run kiss U..." <- Who handles shadow/passwd?

<tprepper> it appears the mpfr package is outdated, latest version is 4.2.0 but kiss tries to download 4.1.0 and fails to build
<sewn> yeah said that like a while ago
<tprepper> oh
<sewn> the old versions were deleted from the remote servers
<tprepper> very rude of GNU
<sewn> fork the package and bump the version
<sewn> while maintainers are *snore* mimimimimimi
<tprepper> how long has this been an issue for?
<sewn> since mpfr had a new release
<tprepper> oh wow, January 6th
<tprepper> taking a while...
<sewn> I told this channel on January 9th
<sewn> are you trying to build gkiss?
<tprepper> no, just following the step on the official website that says to rebuild all packages
<tprepper> normal KISS
<sewn> so it's an issue in normal kiss
<sewn> the fact that only us have talked about it throughout the entire 2 weeks basically means we're the only ones who installed kiss in the time period lol
<tprepper> lol
<tprepper> this is odd, on the officialy unofficial repo mpfr is the latest 4.2.0... issue must be coming from /var/db/kiss/installed, where it's 4.1.0
<sewn> IT GOT UPDATED?
<sewn> WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

<phoebos> midfavila: oh nice
<phoebos> always like to see more Xaw code
<phoebos> even if I never get around to doing more in it
<phoebos> this is cool anyway
<sewn> wow looks really cool

<tprepper> I can't seem to boot the kernel, it's just stuck at Loading Linux-6.1.8 with a non-blinking cursor. how can I debug it?
<testuser[m]> is CONFIG_EFI_FB enabled
<testuser[m]> CONFIG_FB_EFI *
<tprepper> tried compiling with it enabled, same thing
<tprepper> maybe I'm configuring it wrong? I just edit the .config file...
<sewn> make menuconfig
<tprepper> that's a bit overwhelming... lots of options not sure where to find FB_EFI
<Ellowee[m]> Some kernel updates ago they stopped toggling framebuffer option on
<tprepper> seems like a lot of people have had this issue on the KISS Reddit
<tprepper> no solution though
<sewn> eventually fucking around with fb and graphics enough makes it work
