I *think* I saw some folks working on various sway-related ebuilds. I do have my own personal "overlay" where I keep my stuff including foot but the quality of my work is shoddy at best :-)

shoddy :)

interesting term to describe your own work i believe, i'm gonna remember that one.

which app is recommended to view images in foot?
<dnkl>
cvmn: I've been using 'lsix' to list images in a directory, and 'chafa' and 'img2sixel' to display images. Both just dump the image in the terminal. I.e. they're not image "viewers", in the traditional sense

dnkl: could you please repeat that again? (my bad; i don't have logging)

<cvmn>
are they expected to have large boxes instead of pixels?
<dnkl>
cvmn: depends on which one you use. chafa can emit box drawing characters. Sixel support is fairly recent, so make sure to use the latest
<dnkl>
img2sixel and lsix only supports sixel, and aren't capable of emitting box drawing characters
<cvmn>
chafa shows me something like ascii art (but coloured)
<dnkl>
like I said, make sure you're own the latest chafa version ;)
<dnkl>
that would be chafa-1.8
<dnkl>
and make sure TERM=foot
<dnkl>
if you have TERM=foot-extra, you need to tell chafa to emit sixels, with --format=sixels
<cvmn>
wow. foot-extra makes it crisp
<cvmn>
nevermind. i'm missing something.

default green, blue and red are too washed out. better have more saturation.

> This is my first interaction on codeberg ever (which I found because of foot), and I wanted to say that I'm deeply impressed with foot. You have earned my respect @dnkl. Thanks for unleashing this fantastic piece of engineering on the world. Kudos, and thank you.

dnkl: Is fcft supposed to use c18 ? I saw you intentionally bumped it last year, but just making sure since foot itself is still c11. (I'm asking because OpenSUSE is trying to backport foot to an older release where the C compiler doesn't have c17 / c18)
