<fairway>
is ffmpeg powerful enough to do this rename all files in folder example sample.mp4 resolution/fps/birate to sample.1080.30.10000.mp4

<Dan58>
is it possible to ignore an output of filter_complex?
<Dan58>
for example, in this command to only output test2.wav
<fenugrec>
huh. wonder why, the alternative for my usecase is "-filter_complex "[0:a]channelsplit=channel_layout=stereo[left][right]"" , instead of... "-map_channel 0.0.0"
<chandash>
i don't know, but personally i feel weird using some ffmpeg flags like -s <size> or -r <framerate> instead of using filters
<furq>
-map_channel just created a pan filter instance so i guess it was seen as redundant
<furq>
but then -s etc still exist
<fenugrec>
although I don't use ffmpeg nearly enough to have any of this memorized (beyond the easy stuff '-acodec copy' etc)
<fenugrec>
thanks furq. I was in denial that splitting out the left channel would require transcoding, but I guess it's a function of the original audio codec and how it manages multiple channels (thinking of joint-stereo here...)

<furq>
i think it would be theoretically possible for stereo mp3 but ffmpeg can't do it
<furq>
and i doubt you'll find any mp3 that isn't joint stereo
<furq>
without a time machine and a copy of napster anyway
<fenugrec>
it's an .aac, but probably same argument
<furq>
aac and opus can switch between plain stereo and mid-side per-frame
<furq>
so even less likely
<fenugrec>
hey, in 2003 I was ripping mp3 with joint-stereo disabled "because quality"
<furq>
i would have been dragging everything onto oggdropxpd at that point
<furq>
and then probably transcoding it to mp3 so i could play it anywhere except my computer
<fenugrec>
heh
