<mlauss2> Good Morning, I'd like to add audio support to the smush/san formats. Source audio is multiple streams of plain 8/12bit 1/2ch 11kHz/22kHz/arbitrary samplerate data with volume and pan information.  Is there infrastructure within ffmpeg to have all those upsampled to 16bit/2ch/22kHz and mixed together? Thanks!

<Traneptora> mlauss2: there is but it's not the job of a decoder to do that
<Traneptora> you can just output the 8bit pcm and let it happen down the line

<ramiro> jamrial: SLIBOBJS was added in 56572787ae2 (2013). SHLIBOBJS was added in 20b0d24c2f7 (2021). uses of SLIBOBJS were transferred to SHLIBOBJS in b77fff47d0d (2022). does it make sense to remove SLIBOBJS now?

<RuMi_Nos> Hello! Is this a suitable place to talk about GSoC?
<JEEB> yes
<RuMi_Nos> I am interested in the VP6 encoder project for GSoC. Based on what I have read, I should familiarize myself with the codebase and fix a bug as a qualification task. However, I don't know where to start, nor do I know which bug i should tackle.

<haasn> ramiro: you can look at comps.unused in theory
<haasn> That’s how the existing code does it
<haasn> This is for the JIT backend still?
<haasn> If so then you can just use comps.unused to optimize away unused conversions
rvalue- is now known as rvalue
ccawley2011_ has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<haasn> I don’t think it makes sense to introduce a subset of a conversion because I don’t want to introduce the possibility of having a mixture of pixel formats
<haasn> Like float luma and integer chroma
<haasn> Seems like more headache than it’s worth
<haasn> ramiro: for the kernel-based backends (ff_sws_op_compile_tables or w/e), if you set comps.unused on your implementation it will get preferentially picked when the op to match also has that component marked unused

<ramiro> haasn: thanks. comps.unused worked well
<ramiro> the jit code is improving nicely. I had to fix some suboptimal register allocation in asmjit, and that took some time. I know nothing about register allocators.
