ramiro: I decided to turn the reference implementation into a very minimal, array-based implementation
<haasn>
with absolutely no tricks to speed it up
<haasn>
and instead make an optional separate implementation based on GCC vectors for now
<haasn>
also started work on an x86 backend using intrinsics but quickly realized it's just as much work to use intrinsics as to write native asm so I might as well scrap it and restart using x86inc
<ramiro>
haasn: +1 for minimal reference implementations :)
<ramiro>
did you push it to swscale4? I lose track of the changes with the rebased forced updates

I am still trying to find an elegant way of handling automatically upgrading to larger functions when only doing u8 operations
<haasn>
ideally we would first compute the desired block size and then only match implementations exceeding that block size

Someone complaining that libav-user is not accepting new registrations
<ramiro>
kierank: "we have enough users already. go away."
<kierank>
s/users/admins/g :)
<jdek>
kierank: clearly not if none of them can resolve the problem :^)
<kierank>
jdek: are you a professional admin?
<jdek>
kierank: currently, yes actually
<kierank>
LOL

No, I unfortunately still work for the CIA

kierank, which ticket number is that issue ? or which mail sent to root or which to libav-user-owner? (I assume you dont complain about an issue that wasnt reported)

to investigate a specific user being unable to subscribe we need more information (than nothing), theres a little less than 50k bots trying to subscribe just this month, if i didnt misscount

yep im slow
<haasn>
ramiro: do you reckon I should stop force pushing / squshing my development branch? I squash my commits because it will make the eventual review easier
<haasn>
and I don't want to maintain a list of 50 fixup commits that I need to eventually squash in the correct order, so I regularly squash during development to keep my log clean
<haasn>
ramiro: also I decided to branch off my latest efforts into "swscale5" so I can benchmark against swscale4 later
mkver has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<ramiro>
haasn: what I usually do is, one a branch has been pushed, I keep adding fixups. then I create a new branch and rebase/squash there. but then I end up with dozens of WIP-*-%d branches. from time to time I delete old temp branches.
<ramiro>
but that's a lot of work and honestly it's not worth it :). It might help once or twice, but it's just more work
<ramiro>
what you're doing now is fine. it's a wip, so force push squash rebase it's ok...
