<davidlt[m]> Morning
<davidlt[m]> I would be happy enough with RVA20/22/23 on RISCV side, fully rebuilt distribution and not even bothering with glibc-hwcaps (or maybe even vendor repo support).
<somlo> note to self: double-check where rocket falls within this whole "rvaXX" taxonomy...
<davidlt[m]> somlo: most likely RVA20, RV64GC.
<davidlt[m]> Not sure if you want to move to RVA22 (does not require vectors yet).
<somlo> it's not about what I want (I'm just a downstream user of rocket, what with it being the most feature-complete 64-bit soft-core riscv I am aware of)
<somlo> it recently became capable of supporting "H", and that's now enabled in litex as well -- no idea if/how that moves the needle on the RVA number :)
<somlo> but I am fairly sure there's no V support (and enabling that, even if there were support for it, might make it too big to fit on "reasonable" FPGAs)
<davidlt[m]> Wow!
<davidlt[m]> I think I have enabled KVM, but that's something untested.
<somlo> on that note, I'm going to sleep :)
<davidlt[m]> and I am getting coffee to wake up :)
<somlo> well, catch you later, enjoy :)
<dtometzki> Good morning and good night and have a good day
<davidlt[m]> Open 24/7 :)

<davidlt[m]> rwmjones: so Fedora 38 is built with binutils 2.39. Should we move forward and go with binutils 2.40?
<davidlt[m]> We did that with Fedora 37, riscv64 was built with 2.39 and upstream Fedora used 2.38.
<davidlt[m]> I would expect Nick to land binutils 2.40 in Rawhide after Fedora 38 is branched (Feb 7th).
<davidlt[m]> Major changes seem to be scalar crypto extensions, T-HEAD extensions (many), Zawrs, psABI stuff, new interrupt controller stuff (AIA). Some extensions related to hypervisor stuff too, I think.
<davidlt[m]> Didn't look into a full git log.
<davidlt[m]> dwarf psabi and register numbering mapping fixes too.
<davidlt[m]> link-time complexity improvements.
<rwmjones> davidlt[m]: not sure I know enough to answer this one
Kevinsadminaccou has joined #fedora-riscv
<rwmjones> since it has risc-v-related improvements that would be a good reason to diverge from Fedora
<davidlt[m]> I wonder if Ventana extension is also in 2.40.
<davidlt[m]> more psABI stuff
<davidlt[m]> ventana staff didn't land yet
<davidlt[m]> I will ping Nick and Carlos.
<davidlt[m]> I am reviewing gcc 13 spec changes. I might start first builds today.
<davidlt[m]> Rebuilding GCC BuildRerquires: before submitting the 1st GCC 13 build.

<davidlt[m]> Ops, something went wrong: The server is offline. Please try again later.
<davidlt[m]> We are back online. PGSQL managed to hit max_connections.
<davidlt[m]> nirik: could you reboot your unmatched board/
<davidlt[m]> s///?/
jcajka has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<nirik> davidlt[m]: sure.
<nirik> should I wait for the current build? or ?
<davidlt[m]> nirik: as you wish
<davidlt[m]> nirik: somehow I get impression that the board is slow. Anything one dmesg?
<nirik> and should I upgrade to the f37 rpms? or not yet?
<nirik> nothing recent
<davidlt[m]> not yet
