<SiFuh_> farkuhar: I use a Titan Army for my screen. Nothing special but it didn't last a year. Had to send it in for a warranty repair. Found out that Asus has the exact same srceen under a different name.

<r0ni> ppetrov^: 70-80 somewhere around there
<r0ni> or do you mean updates? heh they all done
<SiFuh_> r0ni: mine are still compiling ;-)
<r0ni> there was a firefox update mixed in so i assumed it'd be a while, but it only took like 20 mins
<SiFuh_> No firefox here
<r0ni> on x86 i just use the bin package, but don't have that luxery on arm

<SiFuh_> r0ni: Mines only a build server. I don't use CRUX for anything else these days. I just use this to build ports on bare metal.
<r0ni> SiFuh_ if you don't run it locally, whats the point of the build server? do you serve it?
<SiFuh_> Loyalty I guess.
<SiFuh_> Some people still use my repos
<r0ni> loyalty is good to have! I have noticed many repos are just dead or real out of date. crux can use any good repos it seems
<ppetrov^> SiFuh_, how do you know how many people use your repos?
<SiFuh_> They tell me
<SiFuh_> Sometimes asking me to update a version for example, or when I drop one they notice and speak up and I relaunch it.
<SiFuh_> Eventually I plan to remove most but not all ports. I will keep the ports that have not been updated by the creator for many years ;-) Most of the time they work fine without patches
<cruxbot> [opt.git/3.7]: qemu-all: update to 8.0.4

<r0ni> libdv signature mismatch found
<r0ni> nevermind i'm an idiot, it's mismatched cuz i have to edit the pkgfile
<SiFuh_> HAHAHAHA
<SiFuh_> I don't think idiot is the right word because an idiot probably wouldn't have figured it out on their own.
<r0ni> well i'm slow heh. half asleep and just not thinking straight lol
<SiFuh_> Like me last night? Battling monkeys trying to steal my corn drying outside for my whiskey brew.
<r0ni> so many of the ports that fail on arm just need a --build flag added, I feel like adding that and a bit of tooling to detect the arch could do away with 90% of the arm specific ports tree
<SiFuh_> That was funny. Like a horror movie. The net was moving unnaturally so I go to the window to see a face rise up and look straight at me in the darkness.
<r0ni> heh those eyes
<SiFuh_> Yes
<r0ni> monkeys facial expressions have always unsettled me
<SiFuh_> Good thing I don't scare or panic. I had to look closer to figure out what I was looking at
<r0ni> they are too smart for thier own good
<SiFuh_> It reminded me of that guy from The X-Files with no legs on a skateboard
<SiFuh_> As I said this morning. Wickedly intelligent
<SiFuh_> https://voolas.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/badlaa.jpg <-- this guy from The X-Files.
<r0ni> i've always been bad remembering tv things, i saw the original and revival series, but don't recall the character. my brain had pictured one of the hippie guys in a warehouse (on a skateboard) but thats clearly not it lol
<SiFuh_> r0ni: I have video footage of a monkey on the power pole outside a while back. I was videoing through tinted glass windows. It suddenly stops and stares right at me through the glass. Then when it realises I am human it took off very quickly.
<r0ni> heh they are too aware of things. cool species, but just downright creepy
<SiFuh_> I don't particularly like monkeys. Wickedly intelligent, unpredictable and incredibly violent. Violent to the point where they will have back up. If I am going to the toilet in the jungle and there are monkeys nearby. I will not go. I don't want to get caught with my pants down.
<r0ni> dont blame you, i'd assume they know when to strike
<SiFuh_> I went to a local shop in West Malaysia. I buy coffee there and drink it there. They are not a coffee shop though. They are a convenience store in someone's house. I needed to find someone with a monkey to get our coconuts down. Never found the guy but he found out and came to the house. Brought a male monkey. Common but this guy was huge like the Bulldog from the Warner Brother's cartoons. It took one look
<SiFuh_> at me and jumped straight at me with its mouth wide open. Fortunately it was tired to the motorcycle. He did move the motorcycle though with the strength of his jump before being closed-lined by his own collar.

<SiFuh_> I really wish I got the photo of that because I was trying to take a photo of him. Would have been an awesome shot.
<r0ni> heh i have a bulldog, its amazing how cartoons re-create them... i can't say i'd like a bulldog-looking monkey though
<SiFuh_> As a former cartoonist, I love the old style cartoons. New stuff is okay but the oldstyle I grew up around is awesome. They exagerate to the extreme without muddling the appearance
<SiFuh_> My cartoons only exagerated the movements not the appearance
<r0ni> there is nothing like old school cartoons, new age computer stuff just isn't the same
<SiFuh_> r0ni: I did like Victor Navone's work
<SiFuh_> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duOoqDu2H70 <-- Stuff like this before he became famous
<SiFuh_> I think he was using Animation Master
<r0ni> heh i feel like i've seen that before, but with so much internet out there, who knows
<SiFuh_> r0ni: for sure you would have. This is like year 2K stuff
<r0ni> ya much time has passed since then though, feel like it would have been an irc meme
<SiFuh_> He's done animation work for lots of movies since then. Pretty cool
<SiFuh_> If I remember correctly, he did a couple of those shorts like the one you saw and Disney or something saw it and snatched him up.

<r0ni> i'm sure he's paid well, at least the net is good for something!
<SiFuh_> Yeah
<SiFuh_> He found a job by throwing something shiny into the worlds largest rubbish dump.
<SiFuh_> Hahahahaha
<r0ni> lol if it works, it works
<SiFuh_> I do admire his work a lot. Wall-E was fantastic
<r0ni> oh he did that? i mean the depiction of the human race was spot on where we headed... lol
<SiFuh_> He word on it with many others
<SiFuh_> word/worked
<r0ni> oh ya if it were solo, it'd still be being made now
<SiFuh_> I knew he was involved in finding Nemo. But after perusing they imdb link I posted above, he worked on more than I knew
<r0ni> i think i finally fixed up my arm pkg repo, all messed up (old) pkg links have been fixed that i'm aware of finally... i need to stay on top of this lol
<SiFuh_> Cheers! You just reminded me that I should measure my lift height before emailing the shop for Old Man Emu Shock Absorbers.

<SiFuh_> Anyone know how to block fact checkers in search results. Hate them because they are just propagander
<SiFuh_> Propaganda*
ppetrov^ has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<ukky> SiFuh_: How can I reproduce? It seems fact checker doesn't pop up in Firefox+Google on my system.
<SiFuh_> ukky: In duckduckgo and google, mostly duckduckgo though. If I search soemthing like 'Does Joe Biden have Ukrainian ancestors'
<SiFuh_> "Is Michelle obama a man?" If I search that for sure, I will be very heavily flooded with fact checkers but I am not searching that. I was just searching the one above.
<ukky> Where should I see 'fact check' frame/window?
<SiFuh_> A result
<ukky> Google has some text on top from Wiki
ppetrov^ has joined #crux
<ukky> DuckDuck has small frame on right side from Wiki
<SiFuh_> Sometimes I can get 10 different fucktcheckers in a row or more.
<SiFuh_> fact*
<SiFuh_> Worse if I search with 'Australia' set
<ukky> Yeah, I see 'PF' in results... Let me see if there is anything in web-styles that can be filtered...
<SiFuh_> I was even thinking about banning 100% www.reuters.com and politifact and whatever completely
<ukky> I don't think those search results are embedded by search engine. It seems those 'fact checking' entries are not marked in any special way. Thus, there is no way to remove them locally.
<SiFuh_> Hmm. understood
<ukky> I have OCD about web content, especially commercials, so I remove web styles if I don't want to see some elements on a specific site
<SiFuh_> Same. I hate commercials 100%.
<joacim> dont need fact checkers. got my own bullshit filter
<joacim> and sometimes i want to read my bullshit in peace. it can be good entertainment
<SiFuh_> :-P
