<mnkydeth> https://odysee.com/@MNKyDeth:7 ... Starting a little nerd channel. I put up some very crude Crux-Install and Post-Config vids already. Yeah, you can get far more complex. But I thought it would be a good starting point for people struggling. No, speech in the vids however.
<ppetrov^> using XFS?
<mnkydeth> Its in a VM, very crude install. xfs on the / partition yes.
<ppetrov^> :)
<mnkydeth> Only difference between this VM install and my on bare metal install is that I remove and don't install every package on the installation disc. I remove stuff I know I will never use per machine.
<mnkydeth> The VM shown I just did everything.

<SiFuh_> imlib2 is calling for libwebp

<farkuhar> SiFuh_: imlib2 compiles fine without libwebp. http://sprunge.us/Xq4Q9U Are you suggesting libwebp should appear on the "Optional/Nice to have" line?
<SiFuh_> Not suggesting anything, but that might be not a bad idea though. The system was a fresh install of CRUX 3.7. I was only installing fluxbox and VirtualBox (binary) at the time
<SiFuh_> Anyway, if it compiles fine without it then that's all good.
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: https://dpaste.com/CWZKPJJRD.txt here's mine
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: Okay I found out what why. It was being picked up because libtiff had been compiled against libwebp
<farkuhar> libtiff from the CRUX 3.7 iso? I doubt that package was built against libwebp. Must have been a libtiff package you compiled elsewhere.
<SiFuh_> Yeah it was my thought as well
<SiFuh_> Just checked the CD version is NOT built against libwebp
<SiFuh_> Wasn't expecting it to be accidentally built against it since the CD is bootstrapped

<farkuhar> The automagic dependency on libwebp was introduced in libtiff version 4.0.10: http://www.simplesystems.org/libtiff/releases/v4.0.10.html I wouldn't mind seeing this dependency hard-disabled in our libtiff Pkgfile, to prevent the breakage you just experienced. The two image formats serve very different niches. Anyone who might want to convert between them is quite capable of installing software with the appropriate linking to both libraries.

<braewoods> webp is only really used for web assets so I can't see why you'd generally need it.
<braewoods> Just not a lot of incentive to switch away from PNG.
