<ahmadraniri[m]> Hello, is it a bad idea to use clang and llvm binary which released from [llvm repo](https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/releases/tag/llvmorg-15.0.3) instead of compiling from source ?
<ahmadraniri[m]> <ahmadraniri[m]> "Hello, is it a bad idea to use..." <- Bad idea.

<jaeger> You can probably make it work if you REALLY want to go that route but most of the time using the distro's package management is preferred

<ahmadraniri[m]> <jaeger> "You can probably make it work if..." <- yeah, I found a kind of old tutorial which may help me. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17045954/how-to-install-clang-using-precompiled-binaries

<farkuhar> the ghostscript 10.0.0 commit msg helpfully suggested rebuilding all dependent ports, but that was not enough to restore my printing workflow. After my error logs started filling up with messages like https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=950690 , I switched away from poppler and used "pdftops-renderer gs", which finally got me printing again.
<farkuhar> Using "pdftops-render mupdf", I got the printer to spit out almost 50 sheets of paper with nothing but "ERROR NAME; undefined COMMAND; OPERAND STACK;" on them, until finally clearing the print queue.

<jaeger> Man, after all these years, printers are still a shitshow
<stenur> I once did not buy a Kyocera Colour Laser thing, in 1996 (23.000.- Deutsche Mark). It had Postscript support.
<stenur> Granted, _i_ do not have Postscript support. (Though i have the reference manual for a very, very long time.)

<mnkydeth> Yeah, I agree printers are still very hit or miss. I use Brother printers exclusively at home now. Even if not included in the kernel or cups etc.... They almost always have a Linux driver at least on their site.
