<frinnst> heh firefox 104.0.1 - "Addresses an issue with Youtube video playback that was affecting some users."
<frinnst> wonder if its what I encountered
<SiFuh> I have an issue with firefox not being about to play videos from youtube on the machine at my office. I wonder what version that is
<frinnst> video playback kept pausing for me
<SiFuh> Mine shows but can't play. Click it many times and it does nothing
<SiFuh> Logged in and it is firefox-104.0
<frinnst> compiling stuff is a joy again with a fresh 5700x cpu
<SiFuh> I hate you
<SiFuh> Hahaha
<frinnst> almost halved kernel compile times from my old 1700x :-)
<frinnst> :)
<SiFuh> Mine is a 9 5900HX
<SiFuh> Sounds faster but it really isn't
<frinnst> specs suggests it should be pretty quick, no?
<SiFuh> It does the job, I won't complain, I will just hate everyone else, it is easier haha
<SiFuh> Oh damn, it is Malaysian Independence day. That is why I though WW3 was happening here with these explosions
<ppetrov^> who is Malaysia independent from?
<SiFuh> Excellent point
<SiFuh> Independent from the old flag
<ppetrov^> mhm
<SiFuh> British
<SiFuh> I don't know what is wrong with my neighbour. she had complained twice that at 5 am she can't sleep because out TV is too loud.
<SiFuh> TV is used between 8 am and 6 pm on working days. Both days she complain they are not working days.
<SiFuh> I don't understand these people. They even complsin my tinted windows heat up their house in the afternoon.
<ppetrov^> don't get me started on neighbours...
<SiFuh> The husband comes home from work and sometimes, not always, blasts the speakers in his shitbox with some dumb pop song no one likes. When I questioned the wife she said "Don't, he works hard"
<ppetrov^> heh...
<SiFuh> When I first moved here I thought kids were playing with the car horn. 2 years later. No joke, 2 years later, I decided to find out who blasts the horn every week sometimes every day, but mostly weekly for more than 20 minutes. Like Morse code with super long dashes and it was her husband.
<SiFuh> This family doesn't fit in with the neighbours. But the latest wedding they actually turned up and acknowledged no one. But i beleive that this is more deep. I think they have a hatred for all the neighbours because they may have been here first before the estate was built around them
<SiFuh> So they went from a street with a lake and grass to a street with many streets and town houses. I'd be pissed too

<jaeger> divya: console, X, wayland?
jamesguess has joined #crux
<jamesguess> Hi guys, to patch a package, i just need to put it in the package directory?
<jaeger> patch a package (built) or a port (pre-build)?
<jamesguess> port
<jaeger> You'd need to add the patch to the directory as well as add it to the source=() array in the Pkgfile, apply it in the build() function, and remove the .signature file
<jaeger> CRUX's ports are pretty manual in that regard
<divya> jaeger: I want to change for console and X as of now.
<divya> Also I wanted to say after installing the necesssary wayland stuff, wlroots gives no backend error
<jaeger> for console you specify a resolution to the boot command line, like vga=0x305 for example... depends on which framebuffer driver is in use by the kernel
<jaeger> for X, make sure you're using the right xorg-xf86-video-<whatever> driver, and it helps to have xrandr installed
<jaeger> I'm not sure about the wlroots thing, someone else who knows wayland better than I might have an answer
<jamesguess> jaeger pkgfile would be like this?
<jaeger> jamesguess: pretty close, probably need to specify $SRC/example.patch in the build function after cd $name-$version

DaViruz has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<jamesguess> Ok, and to have minimal xorg as possible, do i need just xorg-server and xf86-input-libinput?
<farkuhar> jamesguess: if you run 'prt-get depinst' for those two ports, it will build only the hard dependencies (not the ports listed as Optional or Nice to have). You probably also want xf86-video-<whatever> drivers for your hardware, too.
<jamesguess> how i check the optionals?
<farkuhar> They would be listed in the Pkgfile header. I'm speaking in general, though; the two ports you mentioned don't have any soft dependencies.
DaViruz has joined #crux
<jamesguess> is there some kind of hook?
<jamesguess> i want to be a bit minimalist and remove some stuff after packages install
<farkuhar> In general the port maintainers do a good job listing a minimal set of hard dependencies. You won't get a bloated installation by running 'prt-get depinst $TARGET', where $TARGET is the software you ultimately want to use.
<farkuhar> If you eventually set up a system that works as your daily driver, and then run 'prt-get listorphans', it might appear that there are a lot of packages you could remove, but this impression is misleading.
<jamesguess> xorg-server mesa xf86-input-libinput xf86-video-amdgpu xf86-input-mouse xf86-input-keyboard xkeyboard-config
<jamesguess> I think just this should work
<farkuhar> You probably also need some xorg-lib* ports.
