<elderK> Has anyone used picom for compositing under i3wm?
<elderK> I'm interested in using it only to avoid tearing: All the other bling like shadows and fading and stuff I can live without.
<elderK> Still, I'm curious as to whether those features are disabled by default, or whether I need to jump hoops for that.

<jaeger> not I
<jaeger> brian|lfs: installing contrib/libdvdread should get past the kodi build if you're still trying
<jaeger> I will probably just add it as a dep to make things easy

<ahmadraniri[m]> hello, this morning I successfully installed crux, but it's a bit `sus`, cause I configure the kernel compilation via `make menuconfig` and the i915 kernel driver become unavailable. How do I get that kernel module ? thanks.

<braewoods> That's the most dead subreddit I've ever seen
<SiFuh> Blame ppetrov^ he hasn't answered anyone
<ppetrov^> heh
<ppetrov^> braewoods, even windows 95 is more lively
<mkf> no news, good news.
<SiFuh> No news means everything all good or everyone is dead.
<SiFuh> When I was in the emergency service back in the mid 90's. No news during search and rescue was usually considered bad news.
<mkf> it's also possible, i'm a unix-minded creature. :)
<SiFuh> You mean 'unix-like minded' :-P
<cruxbot> [contrib.git/3.7]: kodi: dependency updates: jdk8-bin -> openjdk17-jdk, mysql -> mariadb, removed python, added libdvdnav
<mkf> plan9-minded
<SiFuh> Me too
<SiFuh> I love plan 9

<farkuhar> on 2022-09-24 joshsmt asked "is it normal for glibc 32 to fail to update?" but didn't provide a build log. Here's the error message I've been getting: http://ix.io/4bWe
<farkuhar> I wonder if it's related to the fact that I have libbsd installed (the abomination that tries to link itself into everything)
<farkuhar> in light of Romster's warning that uninstalling libbsd might cause catastrophic breakage requiring a reboot with a rescue disk, I'm reluctant to uninstall libbsd to test this hypothesis. I'd rather just install the glibc-32 package from the ISO.

<Romster> farkuhar, "links-dso-program.o' is incompatible with i386 output" not sure how but looks like that object got compiled as 64bit and not 32bit
<Romster> i haven't hit this or any issues with glibc-32 compiling itself
