<g7fya> hello
<g7fya> I have a hardware problem and wonder if I can get help in here ?
<SiFuh> Most people won't bother replying to that question. Best is to just tell us as much information about your trouble and then someone who may know or wants to assist will jump in

<g7fya> Sifuh thx for the tip. will do
<g7fya> I recently bought Logitech MX Keys and Logitech MX Master 3, and they worked fine connecting to laptop Bluetooth. However, after upgrading 3.6.1 all hell broke loose. The mouse will randomly zoom in or zoom out, different keys like ALT or CTRL will be sent to the active app without touching those keys. I switched to Logitech usb unifying receiver to see if it would fix the problem without any luck.
<g7fya> I am not sure what is the root of this problem and cannot find any thing wrong in any log files

<g7fya> kernel: usb 1-4.4.4: new full-speed USB device number 10 using xhci_hcd
<g7fya> this is extremely annoying and I have no idea how to fix this problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.
<SiFuh> And you should use a site like dpaste or another to post large amounts of data ;-)
<g7fya> SiFuh thx again
<SiFuh> Log looks nice and clean now ;-)
<SiFuh> Very formal dpaste too. Hahaha. Just the log entry would have been fine. Anyways, I was just looking at this keyboard and mouse online. Never heard of it before. Does it connect ONLY by bluetooth?
<g7fya> it can connect to bluetooth or the usb unifying receiver
<g7fya> they are very nice highly recommended
<SiFuh> Many years ago, I was asked to check out why a mouse was going crazy and it turned out to be RF interference. I hadn't seen that before but they did have cheap hardware.
<g7fya> I have been using bluetooth keybord and mouse for a log time, never had any problem until today.
<g7fya> if you going to buy, make sure you buy a rechargeable
<g7fya> my last keyboard and mouse from logitech they last for over 4 years, they never fail. the the only reason I replace them b/c i bought new laptop :)
<SiFuh> Logitech don't last longer than a month with before I smash them
<SiFuh> So far the only keyboard I seem to like is the Microsoft 850
<SiFuh> I specifically went looking for it because I had been through about 8 keyboards in 1 and 1/2 years.
<SiFuh> Heh, not smashing out of rage though.
<g7fya> I drop my mouse so many time I am amazed how much damage they can take
<g7fya> i will say give logitech another chance
<SiFuh> I was checking the forums and seems hit and miss. Some people say your keyboard works flawlessly and others say it doesn't. Some say they need to update firmware. I saw one that says works fine on Ubuntu but not Arch. Others say to download logiops program.
<SiFuh> There is a logitech mouse beside me on the right. The M330, but that is connected to the laptop. And a logitech B100 (wired) connected to the other laptop on the left. :-P
<SiFuh> But no keyboards. All been obliterated
<g7fya> I did try all those fix, none of them work, and I cannot stand systemd to try ubuntu or arch
<g7fya> and before I ubgrade to crux 3.6.1 the keybord and mouse work find
<SiFuh> Different kernel version?
<g7fya> I try downgrade the kernel i did not help
<g7fya> *it
ocb has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
ocb has joined #crux
<SiFuh> Okay, and the downgrade was using the original config you had from the working system I will presume
<SiFuh> Maybe it is an xorg thing then or someone spilled beer on your keyboard :-P
<g7fya> I think you are right, however I dont know what i am missing
<g7fya> hahaha, they are brand new, I have not spill anything on them yet. but yes I thing it had to do with xorg
<jaeger> weird problem, haven't run into that one before with the unifying receivers, but I only use a logitech mouse. the mx master 2s
<g7fya> jaeger before I upgrade to 3.6 thye work fine connect to bluetooth
<g7fya> I switched to the unifying receiver hoping it will help
<jaeger> Have you tried rebuilding the xorg input drivers, by chance?
<g7fya> yes many times
<jaeger> I see you already said the kernel version didn't matter
<jaeger> I would probably try downgrading the xorg packages to the working versions next
<g7fya> I rebuild all X packages
<g7fya> sure At this point I a, will to try any thing
<g7fya> I will try that and see what will happen
<jaeger> ok
<jaeger> I can't speak to the random modifier keys on the keyboard being pressed but with my mx master 2s mouse it took me weeks to realize that I was accidentally moving the thumb scrollwheel when I didn't intend to and causing some random zooming
<SiFuh> jaeger: I find it strange the random key sending of alt and ctrl.
<jaeger> Yeah, very odd
<SiFuh> I was wndering but hadn't asked if a mouse button or wheel was being touched at the mom thealt or ctrl key was sent
<SiFuh> moment the
<g7fya> jaeger I ensure you that is not the case
<jaeger> all good, just commenting
<jaeger> I wonder if logiops could help. https://github.com/PixlOne/logiops
<jaeger> I have not used it myself, though
_moth_ has joined #crux
<g7fya> the more weird thing is they work fine for at least a week before upgrading, so it is something to do with configuration
<g7fya> i give logiops a try no luck
<jaeger> ah, bummer
<jaeger> Which kernel versions did you try, out of curiosity? I ask because my laptop's trackpad stops working completely in 5.15.x and so far I have not found the solution... but it works fine in 5.10.x
<g7fya> 5.4.x 5.8.x 5.15.x 5.17.x and now 5.18.2
<jaeger> ouch
<SiFuh> g7fya: When the alt and control keys were sent, Do you remember if you were using the mouse at that time and is it program specific?
<jaeger> Along those lines, does the problem persist if you only have 1 of the devices connected?
<g7fya> i will be using only the mouse
<SiFuh> jaeger: Good way to test
<jaeger> always good to minimize the variables
<g7fya> iam going to use https://crux.nu/ports/crux-3.5/xorg/ and rebuild all X porgrams and see if this will help
<SiFuh> g7fya: Do you know w program called xev ?
<SiFuh> You might be able to catch if the mouse sent the ctrl or alt and not the keyboard
<SiFuh> I use xev a lot because I use .fluxbox/keys for my shortcuts and if I remember correctly mouse events are called buttons and keyboards are called key presses
<g7fya> SiFuh yes , I did try xev but i could not find the problem
<SiFuh> ButtonRelease ButtonPress MotionNotify for my mouse and keyboard KeyPress and KeyRelease
<g7fya> ev |grep -e KeyPress -e KeyRelease
<SiFuh> xev -event mouse
<SiFuh> or -event button
<g7fya> Outer window is 0x4800001, inner window is 0x4800002
<SiFuh> Heh, something that might come in handy in the future
<g7fya> hold on let me install it and see what will happen
<SiFuh> It's just a config for xbindkeys
<g7fya> it maybey the problem some missing configs
<g7fya> xbindkeys xautomation and xdotool need to be install
<SiFuh> xorg-libevdev
<SiFuh> Oops that didn't send to emacs.
<g7fya> prt-get listinst |grep evdev
<g7fya> xorg-libevdev
<g7fya> xorg-xf86-input-evdev
<jaeger> wonder if it might behave better with libinput instead of libevdev
<g7fya> with libinput is the same but the xorg.0.log will be full with "EE) event9 - Logitech MX Master 3: client bug: event processing lagging behind by 32ms, your system is too slow"
<jaeger> hrmm, ok
<g7fya> pkill xbindkeys && xbindkeys
<g7fya> hope it will help
<SiFuh> Doubt it, because it is just a config for assigning keys :-P
<g7fya> hehehe, in the fist minute the random zomming come back and say hello
<SiFuh> g7fya: This is the heavily modular kernel configuration I use to find out what modules are needed for the systems I install on.
<SiFuh> jaeger: ^ You might find a missing module for your trackpad
<SiFuh> However, some of the neccessary and important stuff are not built as modules
<g7fya> Sifuh I am ready to downgrade xorg packages but if you recommend to try this kernel first, i will give it a try
<SiFuh> g7fya: I actually do recommend it.
<SiFuh> I use to keep up-to-date with the current kernel hence the reason I wrote that program ckut to make life easier. But the kernels are getting updated so fast I gave up ;-)
<jaeger> possibly, yeah... just haven't found out what it is yet
<jaeger> I had a similar struggle with it in the past when the sunrisepoint stuff in the kernel changed, it's probably another one like thgat
<jaeger> that
<SiFuh> That is part of the reason I build these modular kernels. I can load a system and see what modules were launched
<jaeger> yeah, makes sense
<SiFuh> Easier than booting a live cd of sume dumb Ubuntu version and doing a lsmod > modules.txt
<SiFuh> I found it easier to compile the actual kernel version I wanted then grab the modules from that
<g7fya> kernel - make all - working
<g7fya> Will wait until i try this kernel before downgrade Xorg packages
<SiFuh> Yeah, cool. I also agree
