Is there a way to boot a rootfs on the BBB from buildroot?
<set_>
Sorry...
<set_>
Currently?
<set_>
all the toolchains have gone bonkers.
<set_>
I built a small buildroot rootfs but it is not booting for now. I tried everything that used to work. No go w/ current times.
<set_>
GenTooMan: I performed an instructional mash of ideas and commands * infinity. Still, the BBB is not booting. Something happened at one point that has changed.
<set_>
I am going to put my finger on it and push the button!

Something happened with my BeagleBone Blue when I was trying to install Python. Right now I can't see its WiFi and can access it via USB. I tried to restore using the latest images from the website and microSD, but it is not working. How to make it back to the factory settings?
<zmatt>
reflashing eMMC with a fresh image can recover a beaglebone from anything other than hardware damage
<zmatt>
easiest way is by download a "Flasher" image, writing that to SD card (using Etcher is recommended), then boot the beaglebone from that sd card and it'll proceed to reflash eMMC
<zmatt>
for the beaglebone blue and other AM335x-based beaglebones (i.e. all except the AI and AI-64) the latest official flasher is "AM3358 Debian 10.3 2020-04-06 4GB eMMC IoT Flasher" from the "Flasher Debian images" section here: https://beagleboard.org/latest-images
<zmatt>
(the links that do not explicitly say "Flasher" are normal bootable images. if you already have such an image flashed to SD card it's possible to convert it to a flasher by uncommenting a single line in the /boot/uEnv.txt on the SD card)
<zmatt>
also, "trying to install python" ?? Python is installed by default
<zmatt>
(python 3.7.3)

Hi, I purchased a beagle bone ai 64 and I want to do bare metal programming on it (and I'm new to it). Is the processor programmed through jtag ? I see a jtag trace but no pin header, what's the footprint of it ? what kind of pin header should I solder on it ? Also, isthere alternative ways to program or debug ?again, I don't wanna do linux and
<amir36>
just wanna get something running on it bare metal.

<jkridner>
grrr. have to stick around.
<jkridner>
amir35: you can use jtag and openocd or TI CCS.
<zmatt>
interesting that baremetal dev does seem fairly well supported, even on the A72.... let's just hope better programmers worked on this than on AM335x's StarterWare ;)
<set_>
Hello!
<set_>
Did anyone see my pleas for help?
<set_>
I plead, darling orange-red, give me the key! I need to build...build...build.
* GenTooMan
mms, "what do you plan on building?"

WOrking distros!
<set_>
GenTooMan: You live? You sit and breathe, taddle and wade, hold and care. It is amazing.
<set_>
Now...GenTooMan: down to beeswax.
<set_>
Where are these notes of yours that you hold so dear to your heart?
<set_>
Tell me...
<set_>
Or...
<set_>
I will scream in purple.
<set_>
I am not joking. I will.
<set_>
I will do it.
<set_>
magenta. Whatever.
* set_
AW!
<set_>
Dually noted, the only reason I know of magenta is b/c of my color printer.
<set_>
Magenta rules!
<set_>
Okay. Let me be me and not joke like a toddler for once in my life.
<set_>
Man, that is hard to say. The low down is this...
<set_>
I am trying to help. By help, I mean build a working distro for someone to learn upon.
nparafe has joined #beagle
<set_>
I have done it, today, before today, and it has booted.
<set_>
But...for some reason, this time, the darn BBB no longer listens to my commands of u-boot, toolchain, kernel (Linux), and rootfs along w/ other files like MLO and u-boot.img.
<set_>
I think I have tried everything so many times, blueness overshadows the land b/c of my failures in the last month.
<set_>
Blah. There.
<set_>
I do not get it. Everything builds fine but the boards shows no sign of life so far.
<set_>
They used to...before "Nostradamus" ushered in his commandments to halt this little brother from learning more.
<GenTooMan>
sounds like it failed to boot, have you checked it's boot information?
<set_>
No.
<set_>
What do you mean by boot info?
<set_>
like pipe the stdout to a file along w/ stderr?
<set_>
I will do it.
<set_>
I will rebuild the buildroot kernel w/ the toolchain along w/ u-boot.
<set_>
Then, instead of allowing it to build freely, I will save it in a file...ALL OF IT.
<GenTooMan>
most devices have a console when you reset the device it should attempt to boot, spewing boot information out the console.
<set_>
Right. Mine...has no info. Blank and does not allow u-boot to show itself, it does.
<set_>
Some big changed. I will just port it to a file. I mean...
<set_>
Dig through some logs or not help at all...hands are heavy. I will make the log.
<set_>
Everyone always says, make the logs. Why have I not listened?
<GenTooMan>
umm you were in a hurry and realized it all too late? :D
<set_>
Nope. I am too lazy for Linux. I might as well hang up my hat.
<set_>
Oh!
<set_>
I know what happened. I am a complete fool and thought it would just work.
<set_>
Ha.
<set_>
What a moron I am for thinking things are just magic.
<set_>
Anyway...
<set_>
I will build again and again but w/ L O G S.
<set_>
GenTooMan: I built the buildroot package w/ three separate kernels, two toolchains, and many, many, many different forms of u-boot.
<set_>
I should have known.
* set_
AW!
<set_>
My star glazed eyes and the triple vision pushed me to Windows 11. Argh.
<set_>
But! One thing I did learn.../mnt and /media and to know the difference.
<set_>
the /mnt is for fixed media while /media is for removable media but it is a choice really.
